Thanks, Ron! That jogged some memories. And here's the version I had in my younger days. I wonder what happened to it....
Here's one of those purple primer Hot Wheels Chev pickups I tried to clean up ... this is as far as it went.
Aunt Barb brought this Jaguar XK 120 by Prameta to me from Europe in 1956. I was 9. I did a fair job of keeping it away from anyone while we played with cars at the time, and felt selfish doing so. It does not fully function as a result. It was and is a gem. I've put off repairing it until now. I see a couple of damaged gears that I want to replace and am asking if anyone might have one for parts? I'm quite certain that the same drive system was used in all the cars of this type and I am watching the Bay for one. It has 3 speeds forward plus reverse, manual and automatic steering and I have always thought it did figure 8s, but now I'm not so sure after reading the instructions. Thanks. John
I recently found this Western Stamping Corp. Postal Jeep bank. It cleaned up good and I replaced the red stripe. It is missing one rubber tire and cap. Any help in finding one or ideas for replacing all the tires would be appreciated. The tires are narrow (just under 1/2") wide and are (1-3/4") in diameter.
Picked up some pieces from a friend which included a Structo Dump Truck. Found these are very common and like mine most are missing the grille and bumper assembly. The overall condition of the rest of the truck makes it easily restorable. Any ideas where I might find a replacement grille would be helpful. Pictures from the internet showing what the truck and grille look like.
Cool truck { RAYMAY }, I wish had a grill for ya. I've helpped other HAMB'ers out with free parts they were looking for. I'll pick up cheap, and broken toys just to use for parts. I also like seeing toys that have really been played with. This old I.H. has seen lots of play time.
Years ago there was someone in the Fenton Michigan area selling reproduction parts for those old toy trucks,I got the ramp for a Tonka car hauler but can not remember who sold the parts.
{ JUNKARDJEFF } That was probably Julian Thomas, of Thomas Toys INC. He's been making toy parts since the 1970's. I hope you guys get lots of toy cars for Christmas!
That is Julian Thomas who owns Thomas Toys in Fenton Michigan. My son lives nearby in Holly Michigan and we have been to Julians shop to get parts a few times when I visit. He is a great guy, loves when I drive over in my custom cars and has great stories about his time working for GM. I did check their website with no luck for the part. If I don't find a grille, I will stop by and see him on my next Michigan visit.
