Recently saw this video with John Force about his take on the meaning of Christmas and the story of his toy Log Truck. CHRISTMAS STORYTELLERS AT CPTV - A JOHN FORCE CHRISTMAS (youtube.com) As I watched, I looked up on my shelf at my Mound Metalcraft Ariel Firetruck which was produced the year before they were bought out by Tonka. I got this truck on Christmas back in the 50's when I lived in California. by the 70's when I had my first Nephew, I let him play with it. Next were my Son and Daughter, more Nieces, Nephews and then by 2005 we started having Grandchildren who all got to enjoy my truck. Finally, a few years ago as it once again sat around collecting dust, I decided to give it a well-deserved restoration. Despite all the playtime it got over the years, everyone knew how special this truck was to me. Only a few small pieces needed replacement along with fresh paint and new graphics. This Christmas it has come down from the shelf and will be displayed under my tree as I welcome my teenage Grandsons coming north for a Holiday visit. Wishing all the great contributors on this HAMB site a very Merry Christmas.
COOL Story { RAYMAY } I told my parents that I only wanted toy cars, and trucks for Christmas. NO stinking clothes! lol My Tonka boat truck is on the floor, at the bottom left side of the photo. It was my 1961 Christmas.
I gave a friend. of mine a 1/43 scale Road Champs 1955 Chevy 2 door Sport Coupe diecast for his O scale train layout. A few months later, he gave it back to me with these changes:
Spent some time indoors as the wind and cold settled in. Decided to continue working on a couple 1/24th scale diecast customs I started last winter. Always liked the Coupe Utility options GM and others offered back in the day. Cut up a 39 Chevy diecast coupe, added 37 fenders and a 38 hood and grille and then cut down and added a plastic pickup utility box. Inside my spare parts selection, I found a Liberty Classics 37 Chevy that I decided to turn into a mild custom tail dragger. With the help of my Dremel tool, some superglue and baking soda, I made some modifications to the suspension and body. End result was a couple more one-off additions to my toy collection.
Cool 39 Delivery Ed. I may have already said this??? But my two daughters, 4 grandkids, and now with a new one on the way too. That we really love the beach! I let the kids pick out some of my old toys to take along to play with in the sand. We also like building sand sculptuers too. Usually a Hot Rod. Lol
While working on a more involved rollback truck build, I saw another opportunity in my box of spare parts. This Liberty diecast 37 Chevy truck along with a Remco car hauler trailer that I cut down and modified to hold matching wheels, has now become a 5th wheel hauler. I removed the lettering and modified the pickup box, added a trimmed down 5th wheel assembly from a parts truck making a good fit for the modified trailer. This one will be a keeper and can nicely display 1/32 or 1/43 size cars.
Playing with my Granddaughter in Michigan. We decided to use her diecast collection and set up our own version of Detroit Autorama which will include the lower-level cars in the basement.
I really LOVE being retired. I didn't even remember that today was Tuesday. That was until I looked at the antiquated forum. lol I'm a little lazy this morning. So I'm just gonna look for the first old pictures that I find on my P.C. ? { So the winners are }???
