All, I must be getting old (just turned 50), found a 392 in the woods (in the car) and had to have it. Pretty much 100% GM until now. I knew about the old Hemi's, just never really knew allot about them. It turns over. I took all of the accessories off before I took the pictures. Horsepower is horsepower, but this thing has got the "Wow Factor". cb1
Naw, I'll keep it for now. This is the first gem I have ever had the opportunity to get for a deal. I'm usually a day late or dollar short. Kept this tight lipped until it was in my shop. Lost some deals in the past by blabbing before I could get the monies ready to plunk down. "Loose lips sink ships" has been my motto for too long. cb1
Maybe I should dangle this 409 chunk of meat in front of you? Comon, now, who's a good boy?, who's a good boy?
Quit that. I just excepted that I may like old hemi's. Give me a little time would you... please..... cb1
I'm a Chevy gut too , but the Hemi bug bit me 15 years ago and have been digging them ever since. Careful cause their like drugs , you just want more!!!!
Haha, sorry bout that. I just got all excited seein that old Hemi, and hearing the story of it languishing out in the woods and still being able to turn it over (not seized). Even if you don't do anything with it, they sure are great to look at. Enjoy!
Since I don't/won't have any extra money for at least a couple years, it will sit in the shop for a while. I actually had to sell a gun to buy this. And I never sell my guns.. So I have a little while to figure out what to do with it. But what ever it goes in you will be able to see it (the hemi) when it goes by. Otherwise, I could just put a SBC in it. Ha, ha. I'm not a tbucket fan, however, I do like a fenders less 1927 style T. cb1
This really intrigues me. But the nearest drag strip is half a day away and I'd probably be in way over my head. Did circle track for a while, but that was different. cb1
dont they have the same firing order as chevy....paint it orange..my 331 looks killer in chevy orange..
Chevy guys are so funny! You tell them for years and years how they're messin' with the wrong stuff, but they have to fall over it themselves before they see the light. The usual reply is, "Chevy stuff is so much cheaper", and I've always said, yeah, but you only have to buy it once for a Mopar. Good luck with that awesome old hemi!
nice find, i pulled one out of an old dodge about 25 yrs ago, think i paid $200.00, wish i still had it, they just look cool, i would like to have another even if it was to just sit in my shop and i can just go out and look at it.
57 new yorker. rusted and dented and stuck between some trees. and not for sale (?). sentimental reasons.... cb1
I would go with availability vs cheaper. You can spend a truckload of money on a Chevy too. I think this hemi is as different from a 240/360 mopar as it is from a chevy 350. The hemispheric head that is. And I like the idea that it is easily stroked. I think in made a funny. cb1
