Trying to help a friend of my wifes out. She got a 68 mustang, inline 6 single barrel autolite. When she gases it car starts fine as soon as it idles it dies. I looked at it, fuel filter is fine getting gas. Air, maybe, when she showed up i took the air filter off to look at the carb started it and it ran fine for a good 5 minutes. What am i missing here?

Idle air mixture screws too Lean ?? Timing slow ?? Plugged airfilter ?? Float level low ??

Those are the things I'd start with.

Mine was doing the same. Pulled the mixutre screw, blew some air in until gas came out carb. Put the screw back and its been fine since then. Guy said it was a common fix for that trouble on an edelbrock, might work for you too
