History Differance Between a Buick and a Pontiac

    Pontiac was never really a performance car until the advent of the Tempest GTO in'64. And at the time they were so backward that the only way that the engineers could get a big motor in the mid sized car was to lie about it and call it an export package.

    A Pontiac was a poor mans Buick in the '50s. It had a lower price tag then the Buick but was more Luxury than a Chebby.
     
  2. Shared platform goes clear back to the 1930s. The GM "A platform" was first shared by Chevy and Pontiac, then Oldsmobile.

    I'm not at all up on which parts interchange with what, only that my bubble was severely burst when I first found out that each brand wasn't as unique as I once thought they were.

    Nothing wrong with that - just good marketing.

    But yeah, I've always been real partial to Pontiac, and as it turns out, they are all pink on the inside.
