After searching for more informsations about the T-85 3 Speed Transmissions, that where used in the early 60s Big Block Dodges (Dart, Polara...)
I found a lot of the T-85 Transmissions, used in Ford and Mercurys, in the 50s and 60s.
Are there sugnificant differences, between these Gear boxes and do they only have the same Name??

I want to convert my 1962 Slant 6 Dart to a 413 or 440 (RB Block) Big Block car, but I would like to keep the Three on the Tree!!! So I try to find out the posibillities and where i have a chance to find a suitable 3 Speed Tranny, for the swap.
Are there any alternatives??
I am thankfull for every information I can get about it.

I don't know about difference between the two but I think you better pick up a few t85's if your going to run it behind that Mopar. We couldn't keep that trans together in our y-block powered cars. Better choice if you want to keep the "three on the tree" is the Ford toploader 3sp. It was almost a bolt-in replacement upgrade back then. Besides, you would have a fully synchronized 3sp and not the spur gear 1st in the t85

We tortured the crap out of Saginaw 3 speeds in out dirt roundy round cars. Those came out of chevys, mostly pickups.
The T85s I have had were from later 60s Ford pickups (T85N) and have the best overdrive, the R-11. I'm not sure if the earlier car T85s used the R-11, I am thinking they just had the R-10, better have some spares if you plan on pushing the loud pedal on a big block mopar.

O.K., I think, I dont need a Trans that is rare and further not able to hold the power, of a nice Engine.

I searched a bit for more about the Saginaw 3 Speed and it seems like the much more stable thing! lot's of positive stuff about them.

Is anyone having experience with a Saginaw Trans behind a Mopar Engine?? What about the changes, bellhousing, clutch....
I am not in a hurry, but I will collect the right parts, to when i start with the swap.

Thank you
