Between a steel 32 5 window and a plastic one. Not the desirability, I know that. Mine needs updating (built 1980). Trade for a modern plastic one or re-do this? Or trade for something else altogether?
redo yours. You will be happier with it in the long run because you did it yourself. You will know everything about it inside-and-out. It will be "yours". Your steel car will only increase in value... the plastic car wont. Besides that, you'll end up with a (plastic) car that needs a bunch of work anyways... they always do. My .02 and I don't even need a picture.
Is this a hypothetical question?,,do you have a old 80's Deuce? Do you even want a Deuce? If you answer the first 2 questions with yes,,,then there is no way I would trade for a gl*** one,,fix what you have. I don't have a problem with gl*** cars but I don't think I could trade a real Henry for a re-pop. HRP
What HRP said. Sounds like good advice. My 34 is an 80s build and I am changing it back to what it should be. You sell or trade yours and the next guy is going to have to update it anyway. Might as well be you. Good luck.
sorry about the red x.....there was a pic when I posted it, at least on my end....Yep I got an old build.
i am an absolute believer in the best you can afford and if you can afford to fix what you have --do it -- if trading is the only way to have a nice car --trade ---enjoy
I think you should sell me your old , tired 80's built car and then after an addittional trip to the bank, Get what you want ... Larry
These are the photos of the 80's coupe. Granted it needs some work but it's a real Henry and a a weekends worth of work removing the rear fenders and taking that goofy bug shield off and raising the radiator back up to a eye pleasing height and correcting the headers with something more suitable would go a long way to improve the looks HRP
Thanks to HRP for posting the pics. The story on this is that I sold the builder a pair of slicks in 1981 for this car, he got caught in a rain storm with them and took them off and hung the on the wall. I ran into him at the Back to the 50's and asked if he still had them, and if they were for sale. Yes, and sure. I went after them and ended up with the whole car... The list of suggestions to improve it started to happen within minutes of driving into my shop, along with a new rad, different rr tires, and tearing into the brake system. I got side tracked somewhere along the line rebuilding the old house I grew up in, so I haven't finished what needs to be done. Much more needs to be done (car).
please keep the original body. I could never forgive myself if i had a real steel 32 and sold it for something not real
Your car needs very little to be a super nice hot rod. Hell, I kinda like it like it is. I would 100% positively not trade it for any gl*** body car ---------well---------------unless it had a Cammer in it!
That car looks like it needs a weekends worth of work to get it straightened out. There is no way in hell I'd get rid of it for a gl*** body.
Well, that car already has the Graffitti coupe brigade wetting on their shoes but it wouldn't take a lot of work to un-80 and unGrafitti it. Moving the grill shell and radiator back up where they belong and removing some of the clutter off the grill shell and geting rid of the 64 Chevy fenderwell headers and put some presentable headers on it will make a huge difference. I'd swap the flat rear fenders for a pair of bobbed 32 fenders or remove them altogether. Or you can drive it to the Amarican Graffitti coupe nationals with the 1000 other American Graffiti coupe clones that are floating around and loose it in a sea of piss yellow.
Get rid of that tired 80's junker. It's worth nothing. I will even go haul it from you at no charge cuz I'm such a great guy! I think I would kick myself in the *** if I ever gave a steel deuce for a gl*** anything. Car looks like it needs minor **** to be a kick*** rod. Keep it
Keep the steel car. Trading may get you an updated plastic car, but the ***le issues for kit cars in various states make plastic cars a problem in my eyes. Some spray can detailing and some minor changes, and you'll have a whole 'nother car.
