Hey ! What's up from France ? I want to know (if you know but I'm sure you know..) if they are a difference between a differential rear end Chevrolet (p***enger car,bel air) 1958 and chevrolet 1959 ? Because mine on my 58 was dead and he said "roooon roooon roooonnnn" and I don't want to rebuilt it, just change it... ! Thank you so much men, and sorry for my english. Tennessee
I believe that 55-64 Chevy car differentials are the same (the housings are not), I used a 57 rear end in my 38 Chevy and through spirited driving (plus it had lots of miles on it) had to replace it, I used a 64 differential ***embly in my 57 case and it fit like a glove, good luck on finding one.
Thanks you so much ! But the fixation was not the same I think. The "nose" (as my picture) was the same so, thank you for your answer !
The third member, axles, bearings, all that will be the same 58 onward. It's the earlier years where things get confusing about what swaps out. 55-56 used smaller bearings in the differential and axle ends. 57 axle bearings got larger. The overall length of the housings are all the same, just the suspension mountings are different. Brakes/drums changed after 58. That's all I've got. as revoir. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Yes, you are correct about the control arms (fixation) being different. However, if your axle housing is undamaged, changing the center section (differential ***embly) is all that necessary to repair your car. To that end, the interchangeability of '55 thru '64 center sections is what was being addressed. Ray
