My buddy’s dad has a '50 Merc that he has had since high school. When he got it the guy told him it had been on the cover of Rod and Custom in '62. If anyone has a collection of R&C's going back that far would you mind checking it out? Also if any one knows anything about it or recognizes it let me know. I don't believe he has changed anything on the body since then.

  4. Lemme' check my books. I may have an extra of it (if it was indeed a cover car).

Will get back to you in a week or so.

  5. Love the fade job. I'll drop a note to a friend and see if there is any info to be had.

  6. Just went thru my collection of R&C for 62 and it is not on the cover or in any of the mags I have. I am missing November 62 though so maybe that is the one it is on. I have been reading thru my old R&C's and am now into the seventies issues and haven't seen that car. I would remember the rear end for sure and the side trim. There may have been a front shot in the section where readers rite in about their cars or maybe a small pic in the car show coverage. No feature though.

I got some more info on the car. It was purchased in Las Vegas around 1972 from the owner’s father on behalf of his son who was in the service at the time. It was originally from New Jersey and it's possible the magazine could be from 62 or 64.

There's a possibility that the guy that sold the car to your buddy's dad MAY have lied. Believe it or not some people do that when they sell a car!

The flush door handles are definitly not 1962 hardware. That said it would be a nice car to see brought back. The 59 taillights are even starting to grow on me. [IMG]
