I’m looking for some help with some dimensions on my Henry steel bodied 5-Window.
At some point in the life of this body, it has been chopped, but I don’t think it was cross braced before or during the chop.
The cowl sweep that meets the frame appears to be uncut, but the space seems large, is this correct?

Also dimensions from side to side at the hinge locations would help me tell how far off it is.

Any and all help would be appreciated. IMG_3803.jpeg IMG_3807.jpeg IMG_3805.jpeg IMG_3806.jpeg

A chop, even a very bad one shouldn't have any effect on the area you're showing. My '33 5w looks just like that.

That is pretty much what they look like. Once you put the fender apron on it will kind of make sense. Gimme a minute, I'll run out and take a pic.

    Thanks for the reply.
The cowl and firewall are not affected by the chop at all. I just wasn’t sure about the spacing.

I made all my inner structure, and it isn't done yet in these pics. When the car is done, you will see this little spot, so it will get metal finished and ground before bodywork.

Your cowl is a '33 by the way as you don't have a hole for the rearmost hood handle.

Here is inside hinge to inside hinge. Don't get too hung up on the measurement, if the door works and the gaps are good, don't sweat it.

If you need any more stock pics, let me know before this weekend, I'm about to chop this bitch.

And, here is the inside for reference. I built almost all of this area, so it is no where near dead nuts factory, but it gives you the basic idea.

Interesting note about the cowl being a 33. It came with a full hood and grill, both’34.
    Thanks for letting me know.
I haven’t gotten to the engine side of the cowl yet, some un needed sheet metal was added at some point in its life. I don’t know what I’ll find behind it.

I’m still dissecting, to get back to original sheet metal.
It looks like the firewall has been butchered together, but it will get corrected.
Door gaps are bad, again, will get corrected.

Thank you very much for your advice and dims. It will give me a starting point.
When I sight the rear window through the windshield, it looks like it is sagging on the left side.
This body is rough, but all there and all workable.
I look forward to your chop and wish you mucho success!

@Robdski squaring up and lining up a body that has been cut up is not easy.
Measuring from a centerline helped me.
Also welding the doors shut then Bracing A and B pillars helped line up the body.
Mine had no floor or sub rails and I couldn't do anything until I got the door openings secured. 20241013_191738.jpg 20241013_191758.jpg 20241013_193513.jpg
Mine is channeled so cowl height is modified

I considered a slight kick up to the frame when I built it, but I live in a state with pot holes the size of some states. I didn’t want to push my luck, by going to low.
I may still decide to do a slight channel when I get to that point.
Thanks for the photos and advice.

Great advice and very much appreciated!
I will be using a laser for center vertical and horizontal measurement, it’s a great tool for me.

@flamedabone do you have time to get the center hinge dimension, from side to side?

This little car was held together only by the roof skin when I got it, so don't consider this gospel.
