Technical Dipstick for C-4 ford auto trans.

    I'm installing a C-4 trans in my stock 48 Ford. Can I use the old trans dipstick and housing, Thanks

    If it fits the transmission, and fits the car, then you can use it. If not, you can't. You're probably in a much better position to figure that out, since you can see it, and I can only imagine it. Heck, I don't even know what the old dipstick and tube came from.

    one had the dipstick turn 90*into the pan... the other just dropped straight down...
    which one do you have ?

    Don't really know as I don't have the dipstick that came with C-4 trans.

    On the C4, you will either have a hole pointing upward in the right side of the case (body) just above the pan rail behind the bellhousing area OR a threaded hole in the right side of the pan itself that open outward.

    which c4 bell housing ? which c4 tranny ?

    There are two different styles of sticks and tubes for C4s, one fitting in the case and the other screwing into the side of the pan. Needless to say they do not interchange.

    As long as you have a MATCHING tube and stick any combination of the correct style will work.

    i have a new tube and dipstick... want me to slide the stick to the bottom of the tube and measure
    how far from the full line to the mounting flange ?
