Man, hadn’t checked in here in a few days and find out you have been in the hospital! Praying you can get back to normal soon and feel like getting back on the car.

Now is a great time to collect on a few of those brownie points you might have with your wife and take it easy, listen to the doctors…

Good to hear from you! It's natural we start worrying a little. We're older now and these recent bugs are nasty.

Definitely be good to yourself and take it easy. Don't be surprised if you start feeling better but then experience a small relapse. Just put your pajamas back on and watch some more cartoons.

The paint scheme looks good on the red/silver car.

Well, the car in this picture isn't a Dart, but it is blue & silver (its my son's 57 Dodge). thumbnail.jpg
I think the blue and silver go together pretty good.

IMG_3913.jpeg I need replace all the dust boots on the front suspension. The old rubber is bad, however the ball joints, tie rod ends etc. are good, flushed with lots of grease.
Not sure how the new ones are installed. The old ones appear to have something similar to an internal snap ring for lack of better terminology. I’m thinking a socket, or piece of tubing over the dust cap cap and a sharp blow with a mallet?
Anyone ever replaced dust boots on suspension parts?

If they can slide over the stud and the stud slid into the joint and the nut installed, it should 'pop' on just fine.
If they are all off the car and a vise is handy, yes, a socket can be used to coax them on. I try not to hammer rubber parts on if possible. Front end stuff has it's own set of rules, though. Maybe a big C clamp?

Ryan, on the old stuff like your Dart, the tie rod end and ball joint boots just fit over the stud and when it was ***embled, and the nut was tightened down, the clamping force just held them in place. On the grease end (the open end), they just pretty much sat over the top of the joint itself and were 'sealed' by the sides of the boots forcing the open end to sit tight.

The 60s OEM rubber boots had a metal ring at the bottom that sat against a step on the outer housing, but there was no mechanical connection on the open end of the boot other then the fit of the rubber over the housing. I have not seen many recent rubber boots that have the metal ring attached to the rubber, but the ones that do tend to fit against the housing pretty tight, like the metal ring was too small.
The purpose of the rubber boot is to keep dirt & debris out of the joint, and to help keep the grease in. The open end of the boot is suppose to allow excess grease an escape route if the joint was over greased, other wise, an over greasing event splits the rubber.

If you're using the polyurethane boots as pictured you'll find they're moulded extra thick at the small end so when they're fitted to the car the flat surface there will **** up against the stub axle/spindle and hold them in place. Same scenario with tie rod end boots where they meet the steering arm or centre link.

That's really nice it's too bad that JD Wheels stop making the
Halibrand lookalike rims the 10 x15s are really nice, and skinny front runners I had on my '34 were cool
