hold your car up to the screen so we can see it. make, year, model, engine, mileage, driving habits? cant answer your question intelligently without some kinda information. PCV valve might help
Gasp! Too much information! Surely you did a carfax search before buying this questionable history ride? Didn't the Eagles do something called "Dirty Laundry"?
Remove the oil cap and look at the valve train. If its full of crud and goo ya got a problem. If not try changing oil and filter often for a while and see if it cleans up. Most oils are dirty after a few miles, to a degree. Good luck!
if you have sludge build up at the bottom of the oil pan it will break down with the detergants in the new motor oil.. .found this many times with older vehicles that have been parked for a long time... only sure way to stop it is to drop the pan clean it all out and after 2nd oil change it cleans right up to the way it should be.
Some oils tend to look dirty in short order because the detergent is doing it's job. If it's a car that you just got I'd probably cut the mileage/time before the next oil change in half of what you had planned for a couple of oil changes. If there seems to be a lot of sludge in the engine I'd be thinking about dropping the pan like Stubbsrodandcustom mentioned above.
Shit my oil gets black within a week of a change. Oh wait, never mind...it's a diesel with an egr system on it. Carry on, can't help ya.
I think the oil companies have everone (not on the HAMB) trained at 3,000 change oil. I run regulard VR1 30W for about 8,000 miles. Just look and if the oil is not BLACK then your good.
It is supposed to go black. It means the detergents are doing their job of keeping the engine clean. If you want the oil to look clean at all times add a Frantz oil filter.
yes. but the oil takes alot longer than 3,000 miles to turn pitch black. At least with my car, truck and my dads truck.
