Dirtyest... 34, bout time.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dirtyest Devil, Apr 30, 2007.

  1. No, not those other dirty guys with all the cool ****, ...my 34.

Some of you may know it from the first pic...this was the plan, still is the plan.
I was without a real hot rod for about 2 months now, just projects and a stock model A at the moment. Been busy building two other cars for customers and working on my 32 a little. So the boys in my club started to remind me about are no cars down for longer then 3 month rule soon aproaching. So I wipped this together in just 5 days to make Englishtown this Sunday. Taking the day off today after some long afternoons this week.
Its not exactly how I want it yet, so I'll do some fine tuning this week with my faithful work pal Joe Dirt. Its nice to have a friend thats ready for some insanity when deadlines soon approach, we had a great time.

I've been sitting on this car for way to long, just to busy working on stuff for other peeps or things that life throws at you...glad to have that deadline.

I got this 34 from my friend Mark Confourth from one of my all time favorite CC clubs, the Injectors. Did'nt know him when I stumbled onto him in a book tent at Englishtown swapmeet. The traditional hot rod craze was'nt what it was today back then...I did'nt know anyone building traditonal cars in my area at the time and was having a tough time finding the parts I wanted. He was standing next to me reading the History of Hot Rodding. I looked over and said...ahh you dig the good stuff, he replied..I build the good stuff. I replied, me too...when I can find the good stuff...hahaha. So he asked what I needed, ...40 brakes, f-1 steering, etc. I had just sold my 29 sedan and was building my 29 P/u. He said he had it all....plus a little 34 three window he was sitting on. My eyes lit up... and I went to see it that week...its been with me ever since. I remember doing a funny little dance when i got it, I just could'nt believe it, a real chopped car from back in the day.
Mark told me he saw it at Hershey for sale a few years in a row. No one wanted it cause it had a Model A square winshield in it sticking past the roof. Think he aquired a front 34 roof section and then bought the car.

I had to cut a few corners to get it on the road in time, gonna fix this week. Gonna put some wheel spacers on the back to bring tires out and down a little, they rub. Need to reverse the spring eye in the front cause the spring is sitting on the front axle at the moment. That will level it off a little more, but it will still have a nice rake....my cars always get a rake. I'll fit the 38 nose soon, digging the 34 grill for now, much more important things to address first. The pipes were fitted to work with the 38 Special nose, they'll pop out perfectly. Gonna bring the firewall staight down like a 32 but with the details of a 34.
I've never been a Chevy fan, actually bust all my buddies balls all the time. No more, this 383 stroker is a monster, I'm so excited. Not sure if I'll worry bout replacing the 4 barrel either, she's gonna be a driver with an enclosed hood...she's fine for now. Gonna patch in the bottom this week and keep the old paint for awhile, I dig it. I just hate hearing that word Rat Rod when there in this stage. I do hate to erase all this history with a new paint job too, cause she really tells a story. There is old striping under there and all kids of paint. Anyway, hope you enjoy! Oh, finally got to put my Hamb plack to use, felt good!

I thought that was you I saw pulling in in that kick*** 34. But then I thought naww, that guys too ugly.

I think it needs some paint...

  20. Thanks, glad you guys dig it.
Here are a few more pics I snapped off at the bottom of the driveway. Can't get it to the garage out back till I get the exaust baffels in it or someone helps me push it up the hill, its like a dragster, neighbors will freak. They shook there heads when they saw this roll out, good thing they love me.

Again, I cut a lot of corners to get her on the road in 5 days, I'll get back on it tomorrow and finess a few things, keep you all posted. Dont worry...patina is gonna stay for awhile.

Are you sure that car doesn't have some east coast history? That profile looks really familiar to me...
