Rustyhope as talked about before has the kit all setup already. And is the best price.
There is nothing wrong with the frontends on these MoPars. Subframeing one is more work than needed.

Not sure where you on on this project but I also dealt with Roger at AAJ brakes. I just purchased the brackets from him and retained the original spindle and hub on my 53 Desoto. Worked very nice. All the rest is 3/4 ton chevy truck parts for the calipers and the discs themselves. He sends you a parts list of what you need. He also built me a custom master cylinder so I could keep my pedals on the floor in the stock location but upgrade to a dual corvette master cyl. His website is http://www.aajbrakes.com/ Send me a PM if you have questions, Roger is great to deal with but he hates typing and prefers you to call. Lance

I have tried dealing with RustyDope but got burnt. I would try the others if at all possible. I purchased the brackets from him 2 months ago and had problems before I received them. With more problems after receiving them I am now out the money and am currently having new brackets lasered out of my own desighn and 2 months behind the timeline I had my desoto on. And since I had already had machine work done to the spindals I was stuck using his kit. I basically paid for the parts list (that was not completely correspondant with the kit as well) and a badly desighned bracket that served at most as a guidline for redesighning my new 1, besides what little Ill get from the scrap yard for it.

Personally, I'd like to hear Charlie's side of this. I have never heard this kind of issue about his work and I know he has sold many kits.
Not too cool for a FNG to come on here bashing a vendor without specific details.

All I see is that you admit to not really knowing what you are doing. How do you have problems before receiving parts that can't be dealt with?
Perhaps cancelling the order would have been wise.

If brackets cut to 'your design' don't work with another vendor's design, who's problem is that?

With mine there was no custom machining of anything. I used my original spindles, hubs and (roller) bearings. I cut off the drum from the hub and mounted the bracket behind to attach the caliper to. It was pretty darn easy and painless honestly. But, thats my story. Mine is a 53.

Sorry about not getting back on this thread that I started. I wound up using the suspension, brakes and steering from a 75 Chrysler Cordoba donor car that I bought. It actually worked out quite well and easy to get parts for. Thanx for all the advice and I did check into many of the sources suggested before making this decision. So far I'm quite happy with my choice, although the car isn not on the road yet. db

I have a kit from Charlie on my wagon right now. He fabricated the entire thing after I sent him my spindles and uprights as he didn't have a kit for it. It works great and I have no issues at all. He is a stand up guy who has backed his work from the very start. I can't say enough good things about the guy and his work ethic. I'm not sure what the problem was with Losoto55 but there are always 2 sides to a story.

    Just my .02, NAES

So, I am very curious to know the specific details of how you got burnt by me? No bullshit, details! I've never heard anything from you that I know of about any problems you had, whoever you are. Usually when somebody like you pipes up on a forum it's because they screwed up the install and want a Mamas shoulder to cry on. So, I'm calling you out in front of everybody here. Specifics and details, prove to me and to them that what you are accusing me of is true.

    1. Exactly what date did you buy from me? I want to check me records to see who you are. I've never had a complaint from anyone on a DeSoto kit, but here you are talking shit about me and my work on this forum.....who the fuck are you?
    2. How could my kit cause you problems before you received it?
    3. What problems did you have after receiving the kit? You NEVER contacted me about any problems.
    4. There is no machine work required on the spindles for using my kit. The mounting holes for the old backing plate are tapped to 5/8" fine thread, thats it.

So, I say you are a coward and a liar, prove me wrong! I've stood behind my work for longer than you've been alive!

Unfortunately I did not get to take pics. A good friend of mine did the work for me and I wasn't around for most of it. I wish I could have been. However, I can post some pics of the after and it's pretty obvious what was done. It really is a pretty simple job, the biggest part being getting all the measurements right before starting and then winding up with the same wheelbase, etc. when you're done. I'll see if maybe he took some pics along the way, although I doubt it.

I want to apologize to Studebakester for stepping into his thread, but we had a nice talk offline and I believe we are good. I didn't pick this fight. I've built hotrods, streetrods, drag cars, drag bikes, customs and done restorations for over 40 years. I don't burn, screw, cheat, or lie to people. I stand behind my work, period. Everything I make, build, or sell I install on my car first, the one my family rides in. If it isn't good it doesn't go out to anybody else, period. I take pride in my work and I have earned my reputation on this forum and a dozen others. When somebody stands up and talks shit about me and my work I am going to speak up and call them out. Whoever losoto55 is, he never contacted me about any problems, never heard a word from him after I shipped the kit. IF he had a problem I would have made it right, that is what I do. To date after nearly 20 years selling the exact same kit I sold losoto55 I've had one person ask for a refund. There was nothing wrong with the kit, he simply was not capable of doing the installation. He contacted me and got his money back without an argument even though the problem was his skill level, not my kit. One guy in twenty years and coming up on 600 kits sold to date. I will work with anybody on any problem they have, but mouth off some shit on a forum and we are not friends anymore. I've got nothing bad to say about Scarebird, AAJ, ECI, MP Brakes etc. they all do good work, and so do I. My email is olddaddy@rustyhope.com. I will be happy to talk to anyone here on the HAMB about this, this is what I do, and who I am, period.
