Disc Brake Conversion Help

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by 57chevywagonman, Mar 16, 2025.

  1. I am building a 1951 Henry J Gasser. I am using the front axle from a 1937 Ford with 1946-1948 spindles. I have a set of rotors for a 1979 Ford F-150. I have the inner wheel bearing spacer bushings figured out but I am unsure what outer wheel bearing to use. I could just turn a sleeve for the spindle but if a bearing exists and fits the hub and spindle I would rather do that.

    Thanks!

If you get the measurements of the bearing needed you can go to your local NAPA store and they can find one for you that fits the bill. Lord knows I had to do this many times in my career working on the counter for all the street rodders and normal folks like us. But the chances of finding a NAPA counterman that knows where the books are much less them having one are probably slim to none.

I have a full set of catalogs and the rack that I got when I retired but they are in storage right now until I can find more room in the garage….

  4. I managed to figure it out using Rock Auto. I took a wild stab at it that a 70 Chevelle bearing would work. Son of a gun if it aint the exact thing I needed.

That's a good result with a little bit of looking.
