ok so heres the story i have a 1962 1/2 ton suburban 3 on the tree 4x4 and the guy i got it off of swapped in a set of 74 1/2 ton axels and i got it after. now im stuck with the dual clutch/brake master cylinder and i need to know how to make it work with the discs in the front. i knw they have to have more pressure than the drums that are still in the back.. could i get away with a pouportioning valve or do i need a whole diff set up?

you need a whole different setup. the disc calipers require way more VOLUME than that MC can produce. Cl***ic Truck magazine is loaded with advertisers that have the proper conversion parts

BS !! Many earlier disk/drum systems used a single M/C. There is a good chance you will need a prop. valve in the system. But you have nothing to loose by hooking up what you have and seeing how it works. You are going to have a bunch of custon fab work going on to put a split M/C on and retain the hydraulic clutch.

sorry but you cant run the 62 dual cylinder with disc........unless you bore out the brake side and go with a larger plunger and an adjustable porp valve. shouldnt cost a bunch any machine shop worthy of the name should be able to bore it out, first find a real parts store and see what m/c kit a 74 truck used, this will give you the bore size you need, you also need to know the depth of the plunger, then find the correct kit and there you go. or you could call a place like ssbc or one of the other brake co's and talk to a tech guy see if you can send it in and have them do it.good luck the cool factor would be great with that set up.

I'd look into figuring out how to adapt the 64-66 mechanical clutch setup, and using a later model (like 1974) 1/2 ton booster and m/c.

But I do like the "try it first" idea too. Just be careful.
