I just finished the AAJ Brakes kit on the Desoto, It sure is nice to be able to stop!

It went together fairly easily, the only trouble I had was
    1. Finding a 5/8 fine tap on a Saturday (thanks NAPA)
    2. Finding a 5/8 fine nut to use to line up the tap.
    3. reaming the 5/8 holes in the old steering arms. (thanks to Jenkins Industrial Machine in North KC)

The instructions were ok, but the fit and finish were spot on. I would put it up against the ECI kit I used on my chevy.

I am not sure about the improvement in brake feel, as the car did not stop when purchased, but I like working disc brakes better than a shot booster and a master cylinder that refused to be rebuilt.

So, any Forward Look owners with stopping issues, contact AAJ Brakes. Very good to deal with and willing to talk tech over the phone.:D

Thanx for the confirmation on this cool kit. My new Mopar pal Grundy, also a 56 Plymouth owner recommended this company. Love those 55 Desoto's. ~A Mopar friendly H.A.M.B.er-Sololobo

Yes, he makes kits for them as well. I bought the one to change the firewall plate out and use a GM booster/master, and use smaller discs to retain the stock 15" wheels. You can use larger rotors, but you have to get newer wheels to clear the calipers.

FWIW I rebuilt two (55 single year application) master cylinders, neither would hold pressure (pitted too bad) and the booster promptly started to leak. rather than depend on unobtainium parts on a long road trip, I opted for a full upgrade. The combination valve came with pre made lines and after I found a "wiring diagram" for what port goes where, it was a simple bleed and drive.

Give him a call, he doesn't check email as often. He will talk through all of the options he has.
