I have a 59 Ford wagon that I am trying to put disc brake on. I bought a kit with a chevy style master and calipers. I never got it to work. It had a hard pedal and no rear brakes. I put a Drop and stop master and booster with a a adjustable valve for the rear. I have some rear brakes and okay front. Pedal drops to the floor when running but is hard as a rock when engine off with rear brakes that work some of the time. If I cap the lines to the calipers off in the front the rear brake work and the pedal is hard. The car has a dual master from a late 70's mustang. I think the fronts are from a 81 S10.
Are the lines completely separated? If so its very hard to bleed that way. Watch a you tube video on bench bleeding the master cyl. Do that until your sure its right. I don't ever use the proportioning valves so I don't know where to set it .
If this is a kit, contact tech support. They should be able to help you out. If not, x2 on master cyl bench bleed, and make sure proportioning valve is lower than the master.
The master has been bench bled two times. The system has been bled a few times. I capped off the master and had a hard pedal. The hole front system besides the hoses to the calipers can be capped off with a hard pedal. I tried capping off each front one at a time but each had the same effect if hooked up with the dropping pedal and no rear pressure.
Maybe it's just me but mid 50's up Fords had excellant brakes and the only thing it needs is a vacuum booster if you hve power brakes. I've come close to changing mine but I've decided to leave alone. Good Luck I hope you get it figured out, many have.
