I would like to use this front axle assy on my 29 A. The axle is marked 3 X X E E and seems to be a lowering axle judging by it's curve and comparing it to the stock one. What Disc brake will fit on these spindles and caliper brackets? The caliper mounting holes are threaded and are 7" apart. The spindles are 5 3/8" long and the area where the bearing / race goes is 1/2" thick and 1 1/2" diameter. I have it next to a stock Model A front axle and the length seems to be the same , but the wish bone holes are 5/8" wider apart. I don't think this would be a problem as they are split. I would welcome any comments or insight on this as I don't have any info on what this came from.

thats a pretty axle. 32-36? It has not been dropped

  3. the axle by itself is Model A as you said

the axle with the spindles is `33-`36 with `37-`41 ford spindles. the axle is stock and not dropped from original , but as you noticed it does give a bit more drop as it was designed that way by Ford

can't say what brake calipers will fit the brackets you have , but complete kits with brackets/rotors/hubs are available from MANY sources

  4. MOST of that style would use 1975 camaro rotor and caliper (but many GM cross reference to that number). However even if that's it, you are still missing the inner bearing/seal adapters that go on the spindles.

  5. Here is the adapter if you have a lathe. However, if I remember right, I get lucky sometimes, the seal isn't 1.75" it's 2.00".

He nailed it there. There are a bunch of vendors that sell a hub and rotor setup to fit that spindle.

  7. With those caliper brackets you will need steering arms with a milled leg. Note the steering stops should be on the back of the axle, you can see where the brackets have provision for them.

Thanks for all your replies. At least now I have a place to start my search for the parts I need.
