Looking to upgrade stock front brakes in my 56 ford f100 truck .Any suggestions .I want to keep stock front axle and spindles. Is there a disc kit that could be used to put on the stock spindle and suspension.I am new to the old trucks.

Speedway motors sells kits. Or midfifties. Or sac vintage ford. Pay attention to bolt patterns though. They make kits to change to 5x4.5” bolt pattern as well. And plan on upgrading your master cylinder.

if your drum brakes are in good serviceable cond there is no reason to convert to disc the difference in stopping vs the cost Tom

I helped a friend of mine install the Speedway Motors kit on his ‘64 F100 (almost identical to your truck under the skin) and it made all the difference in the world. The truck stopped so much better and in a far more predictable manner. There is absolutely no comparison when driving in wet conditions. My ‘64 is a cross your fingers and pray deal in the rain, his is like stopping my new truck. Best thing we ever did to his truck and as soon as I start driving mine again it will be the first thing I do to mine.

I used cl***ic performance products kit. I got the basic kit, and got the rotors and calipers from rock auto(much cheaper). The 5x5.5" kit uses 73-96 F150 front rotors, and 73-87 GM truck calipers.

A friend took 1979 f350 front wheel ***y to a local machine shop along with 1947 ford f 6 spindles. He did a cpl small things to the spindles and the later hubs bolted onto the 47 spindles. 79 dual wheel rear bolted in including the u joint. Now its a 47 with disc brakes and 16" budd wheels vs the old ford big single wheels.
