Just got back with what my buddy calls a disco rod, built way back. Has a corvair front end with rack and pinion, vette rear. Couldn't drive it, carb was plugged. Cleaned it first thing, fired right up, seems to run very well. The Disco deuce was in storage for the last 24 years, going to need a lot of freshening up and a name change. The corvair has got to go, any interest, send me a message. 20160725_142356.jpg

Lots of potential. Wasn't there a recent post where a hammer found that under a tarp in a long term garage slumber?

I bought it from a guy in Florida, I don't think he was a hammer. I would like to see the post.

Disco was already dead by the time that paint job & wheels were popular. Still will make a great car.

That looks really good for 24 years of storage. Wont take much to fix that up as they don't appear to have stuffed with the sheetmetal which looks good. Did you drive to Florida to pick it up?

What's wrong with the Corvair ? It has rack and pinion. I had an A model with same front , drove a many happy miles no issues . Don't trash it till you try it , just because it's old doesn't mean it's trash , if that is the train of thinkin just trash the car , I'll take it !

If your keeping the fenders on it why kill the suspension set up on it right away? There were a lot of " street rods" with that set up in the 70's. Heck loose the scallops and put some better wheels on it and drive it....btw those wheels are about 82-83 time frame...remember polishing a freinds dads 39 Chevy with those, but he had them polished and paint detailed, also had just taken all the chrome off the motor to replace it with Billet

Neat little rig. I'd change the wheels & drive it....

Good looking car, older build, but very clean.
Hows the interior? This may have squeaked in before tweed got going.

I'd swap wheels and tires, and repaint/blend the front, maybe just lay flames overy the scallops and start driving.

The Corvair was the trick front suspension with the street rodders back in the 70's before the Mustang II became the hot set up.

The Corvair, like the Mustang II front suspension work well enough but are kinda ugly on cars with open fenders.

Back in the day I used a Corvair because I couldn't afford a nice axle and was building on a shoe string.HRP

I had a corvair under a T-touring back in the 70's drove it a lot of miles, I don't like it under this one, to high in the front and too wide, will change it out to a straight axle and hairpin or radius rods. If anyone finds the post of the find of this car would love to see it. I did a search but didn't have any luck. Not planning on changing much, I actually like the paint scheme, I also have several different styles of wheels I can try.

Great old Deuce John! I read the story of its discovery too. Its a reminder that we all get old and have to let go of our Deuces some day.

Thanks Jerry, I read the post about finding it, Dusty Relics is a stand up guy, we talked back and forth for quite a while before I took the plunge. It's a long way from Colorado to Florida but worth every mile. Thanks to Dusty Relics for letting it go.

  25. Excellent. A wheel change and an al***ude adjustment would do it for me too. I like the paint.

I'd take the easy way out on this one. After all the work you did to that yellow Vicky a few years back you deserve a break.

John doesn't know how to take break! He has built two LS powered COE's, is working on a Deuce Vicky, a Cabriolet, and two B-400 conversions. He makes the Energizer bunny look like a slacker! And all at 70+ years old too! And he built another steel shop building that was in pieces and the re***embled. I probably left something out too.

  30. image.jpg Hey geezer where did the streetrod emblem go on the grill. Totally tells what kind of car it is. Now no one can tell what it is. I like the turn signals. I love the scallops and wheels I think you should just drive the wheels off it.
Congrats on finding a cool car.
