My son is working on a 49 chevy and wants to put disk brakes on the front. We've seen the kits and were wondering if the rotors and calipers off of a 1984 caprice will work with them since we just happen to have one sitting out back in the weeds? The son doesn't have much money and well I'm new at this updating stuff. Thanks ahead of time.
Most of the kits available list 70's mid-size cars, or Camaro disks. I have '73 Chevelle disks on the front of my '55 which would use the same kit as your '49. If I remember right the calipers on an '80s Caprice are the sort that pull the pads back and reduce wear and rolling resistance. I'd wonder if the calipers could be used...
