I've got a truck that hasn't run in a while and I want to drain the fuel tank so the shitty gas doesn't go through the motor, but I don't really have anywhere to put the old gas. Does anyone know how to dispose of it, or maybe a recycling place I can take it to?

I mix it with lawnmower gas - at least 2-1...depending on how old it is...

  3. Do you have anyone you don't like? :D

If you don't have any water in it, you can put small amounts in your daily driver.
    It'll mix and burn, okay.

If you do see water in it, you can turn the can upside-down and drain it off by popping the cap open a little and letting it out.

I took it to the local "household hazardous waste facility" at the county dump.

Thanks guys. I'll try to find the waste facility in my county, or maybe just run it in my snowblower.

This summer I junked a van that sat for 8yrs,I took the tank off & it was heavy when it fell on the ground & nasty smelling gas came out I didn't want to waste it so I dumped in an old tractor I have & it runs ok on it it'll stall more & has alittle less power but filled the tank up.

So don't waste it use it even if you mix it half & half w/some fresh gas it'll start easier you might as wel use it.

    great for starting the bonfires

  11. Makes for good weed killer.....

  12. Yep, that's what I use it for. Works great killing weeds that grow up in the cracks of the driveway. It also works good on fire ants.

Good for taking care of that pesky ground water too. Damn man, it's not like I'm some damn dirty hippie or anything, but do you also have one of those cool old oil pits I've seen in old magazines? (basically amounts to a sand lined pit to dump oil right into the ground.)

  14. mix it with some of that used motor oil that you got layin around and go kill your nieghbors annoying trees...

As you get older you get more gas.
Thank God it disposes of itself.

AND I'm really getting tired of people's kids coming up to me in the store and askin' for stuff........

  16. Depends on how much you have,, If it's not very much it'll evaporate in about 5-20 minutes in open air. but that could be bad if theres a lot

  17. I mix it in the lawn mower gas and put it in my driver. Just make sure to strain it, old tanks have rust bits in them. I have used a paint strainer in the past.

  18. Old drain oil? Now that's a different story. This is real bad stuff. Especially the synthetic.

From experience I can tell ya' to never use synthetic motor oil as a fire accelerant. Why? 'Cause it doesn't burn. So I keep this stuff separated from the regular drain oil in 1 gallon biodegradable containers.

This wicked stuff gets used on the REALLY BIG fire ant mounds  .

The regular stuff I use to keep the dust down in my driveway and to kill the mosquitos in my neighbors front yard pond  .

  19. Buy some gas cans and drain it into them. Then put about 2-3 gallons each fill-up in your car, it will burn through without any problems. I do not know if it can cause a problem on a late-model fuel injected car, so use it up on the carbureted one. I have done it several times to use up old gas. Disposing of old gas legally is a PITA, especially here in People's Republik of Kalifornia. Just burn it up by rationing it each fill-up.

It is amazing how long a coffee can of old shellac 'y gas will burn. Don't do it at dusk because the neighbors get spooked when it's still burning after dark...

    I won't try that again - Powerband

I was going to use a transfer pump to drain the tank. I don't think static will be a problem. And mixing it with oil is something I'd rather not do since some asshole brought in some old oil to be recycled and I almost passed out from the fumes of whatever other shit he had mixed in.

  23. Catch the first half-gallon in a seperate container, that will get rid of the sediment and water. Pour that down ant-hills. Catch the rest, strain it through a stack of 3-4 coffee filters into your daily.

i'd use it in a lawn mower after a liberal mixing with sta-bil fuel stabilizer. and also strain it too befiore pouring it off in a can. i had a mower that i hadnt started in 2 years with gas in it. mixed a bit of the sta-bil in there and she fired right up.

Had about a gallon and a half I burned in a bucket. Burned for HOURS and HOURS and smoked like a freight train. It was nasty. Never again.
