Any members that own a Distributor Machine that knows about Mallory Dual Point Distributor with Vacuum Advance and willing to set up my Distributors. What's the going rate for this type of labor?
    Thank you for any help...

Shouldn't make any difference because it a Mallory, unless it's something with oddball mounting like a flathead Ford, which take a special adapter to hook it up. The mounting and hookups on the machines are pretty versatile, including a vacuum pump and meter

Thank you, just want to get my Distributor set up correctly, it's for a Chevy 1965 327.
I'm still hoping a long standing HAMB member has a Distributor Machine or knows of a reputable shop that works with Distributors and Ignition regularly.

You can do the same thing in a running engine with an adjustable timing light....

You could use a timing light, a good tachometer and something to get varying amounts of vacuum to figure out what rpm it begins to advance, what rpm it's at max, how much it changed between the two, what vacuum it begins to advance and at what vacuum it's at max, how much it changed, and then adjust everything to what your engine needs... but it seems far more convenient to do it on a distributor machine.

I don’t know this guy personally but I follow his page and he seems really knowledgeable and easy to work with.

    Much easier with a machine,
But can be done also on a bench
    12v batt
    Electric motor
    Vacuum cleaner belt
    Tac
    Light
    Vac gauge
    Vacuum
    Wires
    Distributor & ext .
    Or
if easy to work on a running engine
Pulling distributor at least three times with notes to dial in .

I only worked with two Performance Engine Builders in the past both closed now, both owners p***ed away.
I'll keep looking for Performance Engine Builders in different Counties around me. Thank you I didn't understand what you said the first time. I appreciate your help my friend.

Like @57 Fargo, I could probably look at it with my Allen Syncrograph, but I’m also on the other side of the border. There is a guy “Charlie NY” on the BARN that rebuilds carbs and distributors I believe.

Once you use a good machine, you'll find that it is much easier and way more accurate than trying to do it in the vehicle with a timing light. One of my machines has an "Ignition Simulator" on it, which, in addition to a distributor, has a ballast resistor, coil, cap and wires, and 8 plugs- training device that's fun to watch

And yet still the most viable suggestion in the thread so far… other than the guy who got banned from multiple sites.
