    Hi
I've been collecting parts to do a Rochester Tri-power on my stock 283. I understand that it might not be the ideal setup but I really want the look (and actually have the end carbs working). I've now got some carb cores and a manifold.
I've been doing my research but some of the thread's are old and suppliers have come and gone. It seems that the kit is only available from speedway and vintage speed.

I also see that some parts are available on their own like butterflies shafts and rebuild kits, so for about $200 you could piece together a kit without the new secondary baseplates which makes the baseplates worth about $175.

So I guess my question is should I try to save some money (and maybe injoy the challenge) or are the complete kits worth it and are the speedway and vintage speed kits the same kit.

The Kits usually have the bases for the end carbs without idle circuits. You don't need a kit to block them off. The kits also usually have thicker butterflies with a different edge taper for better sealing. You do want that.

My recommendation is Hot Rod Carbs as shown above. Save the aggravation and get the good stuff.
