New to the HAMB and have a question. Are fibergl*** Ts accepted here on the HAMB or is it a steel only kind of place? I figured if Big Daddy Roth was such a fan of gl*** customs then old school hot rod guys would be cool with them. So whats the consensus, is the HAMB fibergl*** tolerant?

There were 'gl*** T-bucket bodies available by the late 50's already, so I think if you keep the build dated around the late 50's to early 60's it'd be very traditional. There are quite a few around here.

To me, a T-bucket is one of the few fibergl*** bodied rods I kinda like. Just don't raise a big stink about gl*** vs steel and you'll be fine.

One of the very best threads currently on the HAMB is about the de-uglification of a fibergl*** bodied T-bucket by need louvers ?. Not only is it informative but it's mighty entertaining, too.

Whoops! James Curl beat me to it...but just by a hair!

I would say yes since there are plenty of gl*** 32's on here...

Hey, with the availability of the first fibergl*** T-Bucket bodies in late '59, after 55 years I'll say they can be traditional. Due to the explosion of T-Buckets built in the early sixties using these new easy to get bodies, that style of car is definitely traditional! Come over to the dark side on the "Bucket of Ugly" thread....

  13. You'll do just fine here as long as you don't tell us you ware your collection of Gold Chains while driving it and stand your Cry Baby doll against the tire when you park it. As long as your a regular Hot Rodder most of us most of us don't care what breed.

I'm currently pulling a mold from a body I made myself that has the fire wall and side body lines of a late 20s Chevy, a little deeper, wider and good bit longer than a standard bucket.

Here goes my first attempt at pictures. The blue is the paint I started out with that was not compatible with the gelcoat I needed to use to make the mold, the oxide red is a 2 part epoxy that works great with the resin.

seems to me some wacky dude by the name of Roth was making fibergl*** something or anothers way back when... that alone should help offset the stigma against 'gl*** Ts

now, when you start talking about molding your own, that's even more interesting!

looking damn good so far. welcome!

I would guess the biggest portion of gray beards here on the HAMB have owned a gl*** T at one time. My self have had the pleasure of owning 2 gl*** Ts.. Welcome to the HAMB from Alabama
