Good morning to the group. Purchased this 1968 Nissan Patrol with an old in-line 6 GM motor in it. I am trying to identify the motor, it's either a 216 or a 235. I identified the head, goes on a 55 235ci but I can't find the casting numbers that should be by the fuel pump. All I see is a number 6 and GM. Oil filter housing missing as well. Any recommendations on a aftermarket oil filter housing? Would appreciate any info, thank you. IMG_6004.jpeg IMG_6005.jpeg IMG_6002.jpeg IMG_5998.jpeg

216 and 235 were optional oil filters as most engines of that era. You can use a modern day bypass oil filter mount which is available at Napa and others produced by WIX. Or you can get a filter housing from a swap meet and get it to work.

first glance is 216 with the pictures provided but it could be an early 235 as well if it came from a Piwerglide car. I can’t decipher those block numbers. Water pumps are different

Looking at the oil regulator on the side of the block, & at the casting # on the head, I'd guess it's the one year only '53 Powerglide 235
