I am running a stock model a frame with a 4" dropped axle. I want to use lever shocks that would mount to the factory spring perches but I think That setup wont give me the 7 degrees of camber that i need. The aftermarket adjustable perches dont have the shock mount like factory and am wondering what my options are. Any ideas besides welding a shock mount to the aftermarket adjustable perches?

    THANKS!

adjustable perches are only to fix a misalignment between the caster you need and the angle of the front crossmember. And they are ugly.

Post confusing this sense no make.

How much caster do you have now? How was this measured? Does this frame have all the weight on it and the rolling stock you plan on using?

  4. Ok first perches don't give you caster wether adjustable or not.

Adjustable perches compensate for screw ups or miscalculations in castor discrepancy between adjusted axle and the crossmember spring pad.

My idea would be to plan your build and set the caster in to the spring mount.
Then use your stock perch pins.

NO, don't need adjustable perches. I just heat mine at the top just above the wishbone mount & bend them until they are relaxed with the shackles to spring. Only do this with original ford forged perches. Shown is my lower shock mounts. 2 pieces welded off of the lower end of the wishbone in front of the axle. I have done this to several hot rods & they have long miles with no issues. I know they make longer perches to hold shock mounts below the axle but personally, I think they*****. Make these weld on ones & they look much cleaner.

Thank you. I'll throw in "so are the lower bolt on shock mounts". Make sure your spring/crossmember are right. Weld a bung on the axle for the lower mount or to the wishbone like was shown above. Get some F1 upper mounts. Put down the catalogs. Between the HAMB and The Ford Barn, there's no reason to open one up.

EDIT: I read u want to use lever shocks. I'm sure there is a way to make it all happen. Start with the caster problem, fix that and most of your problems will be solved.

Back up a minute... A dropped axle doesn't change the relationship of the perch bolt that has the shock mount on it. Is that what you are talking about??
I can't imagine how that changes the camber or has anything to do with it? Are the wishbones split? Is that the issue?
    Need more info
