I got a $25 radiator at the picknpull for the cadillac of death. Its perfect, even was still full of rusty water. But, its about an inch and a half to wide. (long? from left to right.) Donor was an early 70's one, probably 472 or 500. tanks are on the sides. Won't fit in to the radiator support. Ya think cutting up my rad support'll make the front of the car fall off? What do you reccommend? I felt fortunate to find this one... Thanks, J
You should be able to modify your core support to make it work. Also may have to tweak the mounting brackets some, but seems to me that you should have the room. The core support is not that much of a structural item, as long as it has the basic shape it started with. If the radiator held rusty water it must be a good one right??? Sounds like you are putting the Cad back together, going to sell it?
Yep, conscience and economics dictate that it gets fixed... No, I physically cannot jamb the new one into the car... its too wide! if it were a matter of modifying the mounts, I would be able to take car of it no prob. Imagine a cardboard box a new radiator is shipped in... now imageine you needa cut the ends off the side of the box to be able to get the rad IN the box... thats what I think I'm looking at.... -J
Hmmm... naw, the radiator from the microbus is only 3" x 7" and its a real bitch to pull it out. Last time I did, I think I had a blown headgasket, cause it was full of oil!!!
