Do It Yourself Sheetmetal Intake

    Have any of you guys ever built a sheetmetal intake? Looks like we are going to have to fab up an intake for our Mercruiser 3.7 motor. Any suggestions. Does anyone make a kit or something to start out with?

    I've seen side draft manifolds made out of tubing much like a header.

    Heat could be an issue.

    In theory, I think someone could make one much like to headers coming together to a common collector plate that you could mount a carb on. Runners down to a flange etc...

    Have to cover the valley and I know the runner lengths may effect torque curves like a high rise.

    I'd like to know more too....

    Here's an OLD article on fabbing an intake. Hopefully there is some info you can use. Also you might try a search, as the subject has been covered in the past.
