Have any of you guys ever built a sheetmetal intake? Looks like we are going to have to fab up an intake for our Mercruiser 3.7 motor. Any suggestions. Does anyone make a kit or something to start out with?
I've seen side draft manifolds made out of tubing much like a header. Heat could be an issue. In theory, I think someone could make one much like to headers coming together to a common collector plate that you could mount a carb on. Runners down to a flange etc... Have to cover the valley and I know the runner lengths may effect torque curves like a high rise. I'd like to know more too.... Hope to see some pics!! Good luck!
Here's an OLD article on fabbing an intake. Hopefully there is some info you can use. Also you might try a search, as the subject has been covered in the past.
