Ah, the sacrifice to the old Peterbuilt God! Manny a folding lawn chair made the ultimate sacrifice in the SoCal desert on the way to the Colorado River.

I’ll never forget the first time I drove on the highway without the back of my tilt nose pinned, and neither will anyone else on the highway that day .

Passing people at 90 in my sanded down primered 57, open headers with the tilt nose tilted forward 30 degrees o_O  Didn’t drop any parts but in the moment it flew up I thought I was going to lol

Lost a Lancer wheel cover & watched it go into a field in my r v mirror. Walked that entire field & never found it. Insurance got me a new one. Ever happens again, I ain't even gonna try ......

Rereading this thread, Some things I remember today, had the big moon disc set on a 51 Ford, had 2 fall off, did not want to screw on so gave up and sold remaining 2, broke a u joint and driveshaft bouncing down the road, towing racer had a rear wheel bearing fall apart, allowed axel to come out to hit inner fender lip, blew tire at 70 mph, a few seconds of excitement. I had a 327 with the duntov 30/30 cam easily turned 6000 + rpm had a generator or alternator pulley blade come off, made a dent in hood, same car 64 Impala SS 4 speed 4:88 gear, street slicks, launched at 4000 rpm and blew drive shaft middle support bearing apart, 2 piece driveshaft, hell of a racket, misc crap on roadway, big costly fix. I had open wheel racers with knock offs, had everything under control exception pit crew helpers, I believe I had the only midget with arrows on knock offs to be sure they hit them the correct direction. This started way back in beginning driving my Dads car, was setting in car ready to push off and Harry Turner was next to us and leans in car to tell me, kid, your Dad just hit knock offs the wrong direction, a ritual with my Dad was he'd lean in and say "Be Careful" and hit the knock offs, so Harry rehit them for me and from then on they were marked.

  7. I was driving through town one day and all of the sudden I heard a very loud noise followed by a very loud scraping sound. I pulled over as quickly as possible and got out of my 63 Galaxies 500. I expected to find some thing broken and dragging from my car. I walked around it and couldn't find anything wrong. I knelt down on the ground and much to my surprise I could see a jack handle bent and sticking out of my floorboard. It was jammed in pretty hard and it took a minute or two to remove it.
Apparently it had been in the road and my tire kicked it up. When it hit the floor board it lodged in and caught the roadway at the same time, causing it to knock a hump in the floor and puncturing it. The end was sticking through the floor board and barely missed the seat. Good thing no one was with me, that would have hurt.
