I picked up a nice looking rollcage a few weeks ago and just wonder if it can be resued or is it a man cave wall hanger? Looks post 1965 to me, but would someone be able to use it in a HAMB friendly rail, or Bonneville car? Bob
If your talking N.H.R.A. spec's, those change often. That's why you see tubes added to the Old Dragster cages. Wall thickness is regulated and checked and re certified often. Reg's are different for Chrome Molly and Mild Steel. Also there are rules for Helmet fit inside the cage. Personally I'd just make a wall hanger out of it. The Wizzard
Thanks Wizzard, plan is to flip it to help cover the cost of the top wood kit for the '29 Steelback, just don't want to misrepresent what it is. Bob
I have on occation removed an old cage to fit a new owner and saved the cage to install on another. Basic spec for the cage has not changed in 20+ years, there have been additions such as there needs to be a section of tubing on top connecting the secondary hoop and the strap going around is now replaced with 1" x .058 CMT. Sellable? maybe but dont buy a $30 swap meet space if that is all you have. The workmanship on it is very good and not cobbled up
I dunno' but you sir...have the cleanest moving blanket that I have ever seen.....is it Downey soft too ? Or Snuggle fresh ? Inquiring minds want to know....
You overlooked the white paint stains, that is a dropcloth as well, you can barely hear the paint hit it. Bob
Looks way post 65 to me. I'd guess 90's or later, but there really isn't any way to tell. Hang it on the wall.
TURN IT INTO YARD ART! Introducing "Left-turn Louie" Imade this "drag racing archaeological find" with an outdated roll cage. It is the hit of the neighborhood come Halloween time. Also good for reserving a pit space overnite at the drags. Hint: to get straight cuts across the tires submerge them in water up to the bead, withdraw, mark with grease pencil, cut. Presto!
Another nice thing about it - I can make him a FED, RED(yuk), or altered just by moving pieces around. And engine swaps are a snap. Its the cheapest three cars I've ever owned.
Use it on your Trog car just cut some of the tubes out to make it look older WACCUSTOMS.COM Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Frenchtown -that is funny! Portable so you don't have to mow around it. Kidcampell - you're gonna get the dryer sheet thing going again like that!
That's a 90s build based on the design standard. It could be used by a sportsman racer, like 7.50 or slower. It's not junk, but it's not a piece of 'precious metal' either.
