I would LOVE to get my hands on some myself... Anyway, I heard at the SEMA show in November that Tatom Custom Engines is working on buying all of Navarro's old stuff (rights, patterns, etc.) from him in the not too distant future... I heard it from a guy who works with Tatom, who was actually standing about 3 feet from Tatom at the time - who was standing next to a Sharp-headed, blown flattie near the Edelbrock booth. I didn't ask Tatom, as he was Talking with Vic Edelbrock about making "new" flathead parts. I tried to evesdrop, but all I caught was some discussion about bringing back the old slingshot manifold... If anyone has Navarro's number, I would appreciate it.
i hear Navarro is what you buy if you wanna go fast.you can't just bolt it on,you gotta do the port match and all that to make'em work.that other stuff is for posers is what i hear...
Dont know that that is the truth yogatron, thickstun, edelbrock, weiand and sharp all had sucess on the lakes, Barney sure did put alot of thought into his products tho. If you have the first 12 issues of HOP UP there are quite a few articles written by barney about various misnomas on gaining speed. But then again, it also would be a way of getting your name known, which means more sales, I reckon he was one of the smartest guys on the lakes.
The cool thing about Navarro is you can call him and talk to the man himself! For example he took the time and gave me a personal first hand account of his record breaking supercharged destroked Flathead roadster that he competed with in the early days. That was a very good day for me. The man exudes knowledge, is a true living hot rod legend and a brilliant mind.
Hey, Flatdog, looked up the guide to block clearance figures...there ain't none. I checked US, Canadian, and Australian service bulletins, US military, Canadian, and British manuals. Looked at the Belgian manuals but they were in some kind of heathen scribble language. I think this is not published anywhere. Bruce
I've called the shop number many times and always get an answering machine and no call back. I live near Chicago, but have been to Navarro's shop in L.A. twice, and both times it was locked up w/nobody in sight. I'm going to be in L.A. next Monday and am going to try again. Any suggestions on how to reach da man?
