I hate heavy screen print. Our PBE wholesaler brings us shirts, some have cool retro designs, but heavy screening on a black shirt is a non starter for me

  2. I posted the above while wearing my black Jalopy Journal shirt with artwork on the front, a great man once said his hypocrisy knows no bounds…apparently mine doesn’t either.:) IMG_5321.jpeg

What is this "tie" thing you guys have been talking about?

For years my shop shirts had a small shop logo breast print on the front, and a large shop logo print on the back, always grey shirts with red & black print, but I was advertising my shop.

I prefer hot rod shirts be front printed, in colors other then white or black, Thank you. I really dislike these modern "body fit" T shirts, I would much rather my body shape not be so bluntly advertised, and I don't like clothes that "stick tightly" to me. I had a T shirt with a pocket once, every time I seemed to move that pocket got caught on everything. I won't buy t shirts with pockets.

All my tee shirts start out to use "for good", then as the stains show up, they move towards being "for work" shirts. Sometimes that "for good" time frame isn't very long, I seem to have a lot of work shirts.

  5. Large print on front, small on back :D. I like anything but light colors, you know grease and stuff.

BUT, I have to say one of my favorite shirts is the brown Jalopy Journal one.

Art on the front. Not too keen on black shirts. Does get hot and humid here in Tennessee.

Small logo over the heart, large on back. White for summer, dark for winter…..or large individuals as dark colors are “slimming”. My 2cents

  8. TBH, I think it really depends upon the design that's being printed.

I also only own one black shirt and it was a free one.

As a Swede this is the reason i like the print in front.
The other reason is that i drive Dodge and spend more time in the
drivingseat than hang over the fender to solve problems. :D

Front guy. Nobody gives a damn what I look like or wear, so when I look down, I want to see the cool art. And colors! Need more color in my wardrobe! How 'bout at least a charcoal grey. I have a thousand black shirts. Maybe 8 white ones I seldom wear for fear of destroying. The 3 blue ones and 2 greys get worn all the time. Went to the beach a month go and realized I could use an orange shirt so the sunblock around the collar doesn't show! Lloyd gave me a green one, and that started another chapter for me. It's kinda parallel to traffic on the road....not enough colors out there!

Large art in front blocks air flow, I won't buy or wear one. I do buy if it's on the front, but give them away to people that want them more than I do.

    Yep - no pocket.

Your smaller signature on the upper left side and large on the back.
    Just looks cool that way.

Look at it this way.....think of all the car shows you went to that you receive a T-Shirt with your entry that had the car show big on the front that you never wear.

Closets full of them..... worn once, never to be worn again unless pure desperation of everything else is in the laundry and it's cold inside the house - ya gotta throw something on until you get the laundry done.

All of you saying that the image blocks airflow and makes the garment hot need to go back and read the entire thread. Especially the part where Ryan said that his are not screen printed but are Dye sublimation. Dye sublimation adds zero weight to the material

Bottom line Ryan..... do it how you want it.
Marketing 101 though - I'm thinking Pocket T-'s don't sell as well as non pocket T's.
Pockets were popular back in the 50's and 60's to put your smokes.
    Now - your phone ?
Lean over - drops right out.

What ever you decide/ print up - people will buy it.

Just to be cool, you've built a hellava brand.......:)

Lol…the phone in the front pocket reminded me of a situation a few years back when a buddy put his car keys in the pocket on the front of a work shirt. He bent over to put something in the trunk of my 56 and seems the keys landed in a bag in my trunk. We ended up hot wiring his 53 Chevy so he could drive that morning after looking all over a parking lot for his keys. About a month later when going through stuff in my trunk, I found the keys. So, moral to the story is no pockets…lol. :D

Colors are weird. Black, white or grey. From the hypocrite dept, Mrs Jocko buys me colors now n then, and I work in them so usually dark greens or browns. Pockets? Yeah, where will I keep my smokes? I do roll em in the sleeves sometimes (yeah I'm old, fuck off) but for too long and it makes the sleeve too loose to hold em. Designs? I have both fronts and backs. I have one test shirt from Marcy with shit all over it. Inside and out, it's amazing how may ppl ask or compliment about it. Yes it's black...almost. I prefer designs on the back. Why? Sometimes it feels odd when somebody is looking that close. All hoodies should ALWAYS be on the back. Yes, these are my opinions and preferences. I have Rat Finks on the front and back and he can be wherever he wants. White is my last pick, ever. Sweat stains, the errant drip from a coffee cup, squeezing between old cars, to easy to dirty up and too long to get dirty enuff to be an art form in itself. I voted back, it's my preference, but style and topic gets it done before placement.

  23. So just to be clear, "Do I like art on the front of the back of a T shirt?"
    Yes I do.
Sorry I just could not resist.

If I had to choose, today I would prefer it on the back. Tomorrow I may change my mind. I am fickle like that.

I think for meeting and greeting purposes I think that art on the front may be preferable. I am walking along someone sees the art and they stick out there hand, preferrable fingers first and not knuckles first. But in general I prefer logos and/or affiliations I prefer the back.

Dark shirts stay usable much longer than light or white shirts. I suppose a charcoal gray or a darker brown color could stand out from the legion of black shirts and still retain usability. These are after all being bought for when we want to look dressed up (in our definition of dressed up).........dapper so to speak..............not for actually working in them.

Slogan suggestion....under the Hamb Logo........."where nostalgia lives on"

  25. I'm less particular about the color and logo placement as I am about how it fits. Those GILDAN cheapy-cheapo shirts that everyone uses do not fit me well. I have the torso of someone 6'6" and the legs of someone 5'5" and I average out at 6'0". So I need something long but not Omar the Tentmaker big. Also, I like the soft shirts, and the dye printing VS. Screen printing is preferred. Some logos feel like your wearing a sign if it's screen printed.

Artwork on the back looks best.
It would really be nice if jersey type T- shirts with collar were also available
like those in link below. Color would be light grey/beige.
Better yet, being able to pick your own color shirt with HAMB red /white logo would be a bonus.
Folks would be willing to pay for a shirt that is a step-up from a T-Shirt.
I have also noticed that as folks get older they shed the T-shirt.
