1952-59 Ford Do you have to change the headlight switch when doing a 12v conversion?

Took a break from my turn signal fiasco and I'm dealing with headlight wiring now. I noticed in the DC catalog they list 6v headlight switches for the '54s. Do I need to swap to a 12v H/L switch for my 12v conversion?

Some will say yes, but I ran 12v through an original 6v switch in a '53 I had. Sold the car recently after about 25 years still with the original switch and it's still working. My '55 Merc still has its 6v switch; the lights work fine but the rheostat for the dash lights gave up the ghost.

I am running the stock headlight switch in my 55, the contacts in the 6V switch are larger so they work just fine. The only issue is the dimming feature for the dash lights does not dim the dash lights much at all but I usually leave the dash lights on high anyway. I think you are fine.

you will be good as the 6 volt drew (draw) a higher amp load on switch
