Last week I posted a thread about finding a Cad 3x2 edelbrock manifold with 97's in the garage of a house sold by a family member (he was the realestate agent not the home owner) . I got a chance to go look through the garage myself and didn't find any more speed parts but I did find a photo album, inside was this picture that I thought was interesting. All the pictures seem to be from the 40's, none of the vehicles in any of the pics are newer than 1948. I think that it's in Wisconsin judging from some of the other pics.

Anyway here's the pic and what's written on the back.

The pic you posted is not typical Wisconsin architecture,
especially in the 40's. Judging by the Spanish tile roof and
Spanish architecture I'd guess South. Anywhere from Florida,
New Orleans, Texas or California. Maybe even up your way
except those aren't desert type trees or lawns.

On second glance I really think it is Gulf Coast.

Not trying to be a ****, just trying to help Ya narrow it down.

The back of that picture Rules!

  6. Trees look midwest. Lots of Spanish and Mediteranian styles used in the 20s and 30s in the Heartland. Rear axle looks too far back, might help pinpointing the car.

Looks like a '33 Chevy grill, can't enlarge the photo to see any body details.

good points about the trees and architecture. I never thought about it because here in vegas it looks very similar, doesn't everywhere look this this? anyway, i don't have any good clues about the location but there were also some pics of hollywood in with the rest of the pictures.

  14. My money is on So. Cal.

  15. Vegas at the time didn't have the developement it does now. A car like that is built from influence and peer pressure. I'm thinking military man writes home, and sends a pic of the strange things from the left coast.

  19. There are houses on Highland in Hollywood that have that same exact style of architecture, the Spanish tile, arched windows, turrets, etc. My $$$$ says SoCal.

Are you sure it's America? Why are the cars on the wrong side of the road?

Not a bad question, but that whole image has got cl***ic americana and hot rod written all over it and the wording on the back matches as well. My guess is just a coincidence on the orientation of the cars or flipped printing and I also am guessing So Cal, although it could easily be around SF Bay area too and if so most likely the east bay, Oakland/Fremont/Berkeley, etc. Regardless, great looking little car and cool image to. Dropping that into the desktop image folder - Thanks!

The car could have been in California, and the photo mailed to someone in Wisconsin who thought enough of it to place in the album.

Hmmmmm....can't help but think this picture should be reversed , but it's probably the right way. Cool car nonetheless.

Did '40 Fords have dual exhausts or just one exhaust tip? What side was it on?

Is that a magnolia tree behind the roadster? Lots of those around socal...especially the old neighborhoods. To bad that 40 Ford's plate is just out of sight.
