  1. i put 525 miles on my f-1 2 weeks ago, i have been down to atlanta already once this week, to supper in town to meet my boss, going to honest charlies-coker tire event in chatt. sat, then to the 10,000 dollar race at atlanta dragway oct. 13th, then to fla. to see family and eat oysters.i guess my question is,,,,, why is it no one drives there cars? what is it about parking your carcass in a lawn chair for 2 hrs. once a month, scattering at the first sign of a cloud, and then hiding your trailer when you go out of town to an event. i just dont understand having it if you dont use it. i guess i am just weird. i drive the crap out of mine.

You've been to my house ,you know I drive mine. If you can't drive it why own it. If you see one of my cars on a trailer I just bought it,sold it, or it's broke down.

Hit the search button for a few threads on true daily drivers, there are actually quite a few who drive thier hot rods everyday all the time including me and it seems, you.

The best part of my day is always jumping in my hot rod headed home from work to see my little family. Hard to beat it after a long day... Know what I mean???

    See ya, -Abone.

Your not the only one. I drive my truck everyday. I don't understand why you would spend the time and money to build a car and not drive it.

When I got in from work friday I got in my 30 pickup drove it to town 19 miles. Had some food and drove back home.

I got up at 5:30 saturday morning got out my 32 Roadster and drove it to breakfast. Another 40 mile round trip.

That afternoon my wife and I got out the 50 Chevy and drove it to a club meeting about 25 miles away.

Sunday I threw the gas can in the 30 pickup and went for fuel for the tracktor.

    I know I'm a lucky man and I'm thankful.

I think the guys with projects outnumber the guys with cars/trucks that are on the road, there isn't a right or wrong way to enjoy the hobby. Bob

I drive my '51 all the time unless it's broke down. ...to be honest the supercharger on my 6yr old Toyota gives me more hell than any of the 60yr old innards of my Chev.

I am well over 20,000 miles this year on mine and still have 3 months to go this year. I logged nearly 90,000 miles in my f-1s in the last 4 years.

  18. I here what all of you are saying but on the same note I see some many cool rides at a car show and the onwer said he lives a little ways from me, or he is a local and you never see their rides. So gasmanm01 I know what you mean. As for all of us who do drive them keep going and if you pass a cool ride give them a thumbs up.

  19. thank you gentlemen, you truly understand what i mean. medic customs lives in the same town i do, but you rarley see the few hundred hot rods in this town except for our once a month sat. cruise nite which draws hundreds of cars from n. ga, ala. and tenn. i had try to get a poker run going and these guys are scared to death to take there cars out. i dont get it.

I drive mine every chance I get, and that's year round. Check my location.
Hardly ever hang around a car show parked in a chair.
I don't just stay in town either,I go to shows in Carson City (70+miles),
or I'll take a drive up to Lake Tahoe (100+ miles) just for the hell of it,
and have driven to Santa Maria several times (1,000+ miles).

I've put 300,000 miles on my Nomad in the last 21 years. I drive it a lot.

So do all the local HAMBers whose cars & trucks can be seen all over town, all the time (65fordguy, drdave, five-oh, rusted_nut, stillkruzn, toadfrog). We all drive our cars several days a week, year 'round (what is this "winter storage" people are talking about?). drdave's '51 Merc is driven EVERY day, as is five-oh's Chevy.

Yep, I'm about 9,000 miles a year and seldom travel over 100 miles away. Just came back in the door from a moonlit ride........

Wear it out, build it again!

I do understand what yer' saying gasmanm01. Drives me crazy why these guys have cool cars. To me they are missing out on the fun of owning them, if they won't drive 'em except from their garage, to the car show, then right back to the garage.
The ones that really get me are the guys with near full race cars, and when I ask what times they're running, they say it's never been to a drag strip!

I have not been to a cruise night in over 2 years. Never been in a show. Don't have a lawn chair. But I drive my bucket everyday it doesn't rain or the temp gets below 40*. At least 25+ miles everyday. This past saturday, I got out at around 8am and drove around Houston for about 4 hours. Just driving. At least 60 miles. Stopped for a cig once and kept driving.

Every stop light is a car show and my car is usually the only one in it. No trophys and I go and come as I please. Life is truly good.

I drive mine all the time, weather permiting. I don't drive it to work because the enviroment at a Blast Furnace eats cars overnight but we have drove it everywhere this summer. 45 miles each way out of town for a couple weddings, 40 miles each way to a out of town cruise, couple hundred to go see Voodoo Larry's Open house, about 300 round trip to the Relix Riot, and I even roll it out every weekend to sit in front of my favorite watering hole to listen to the blues bands. This weekend we are hitting Ducktail (about a 400 mile weekend) and next weekend we will hit the Iron Invasion (another 300 miles weekend). This is one of the reasons I sold my 31' Tudor and bought the Lincoln. The Lincoln is made for highway cruising. If I ever get enough time off work RT66 out to Flagstaff is on my bucket list!!!

  29. good for you guys, keep this thread going. maybe we can wake a few of them up or pissem off. it would be great to see ld cars every week being used.
