Weekends it's the garage. Weedkdays? Well, between 10 hrs at work and a 1 hr commute each way, along with the typical daily life stuff, such as grocery shopping, staying on tiop of bills, etc, etc, I find that I don't have much garage time. I can spend a 1/2 hr on here, or I can go tinker in the garage for a little bit. The problem with going to the garage, is that I end up getting involved and staying way to late. I wipe myslef out by the time Friday night rolls around. Therefore, I generally save my energy for weekends in the garage.

I work 1pm-12am behind the stinkin' computer Sunday-Wednesday... then Thursday-Saturday i'm running the sandblasting business 7am-9pm-ish... GOD I WISH I HAD MORE GARAGE TIME... i'm just too damned tired to do anything sometimes... but I try to do atleast ONE thing a week on one of my rides.

What's up with these posts today? Silly...

Even sillier? The guys that play all hard and say they are in their garage all the time... all the while knowing that... well... I know the cold hard truth.... right down to the last minute. :)

    Ryan,

I've got one of those lap tops with the broad band card, so I can take it out there with me, and mess around while I'm waiting for the paint to dry.:D

I picked option A, don't get me wrong, there is nothing better than a garage, but I just had a kid, so lately the ONLY free time I get is when I am feeding him a bottle...like right now

Kind of an outlandish thought but can you imagine...
The hamb is only accessed by me during work. Its a good stress reliever.

But I was thinking of what draws me here... Naturally, I have the same interests but it's the people here with those same interests that brings me back.
There are alot of hot rod sites available that is dry with technical information and only that nothing more......
    And I hate computers too...
Can you imagine what it would be like to live in a (community-town) that is filled with 100% of the same individuals here and we could actually share our interests on a personal way instead of through pictures and threads on the Hamb??
Every garage would be filled with projects that cover the hotrod spectrum.

"I have a wife and kid that demand most of my time. I wish I could be out in the garage but I found out the more time I spend out there the more money I spend. "

Perfectly describes my situation. Between work, long commute and a young family at home, I don't get much time out in the garage these days and it takes money.

I'm going to finish my motor and then take a sabbatical from the coupe for a year to build up my cash resources and pay down debts, so I'll be more of a computer kustomizer next year than I have ever been.

And lets face it, without a heated garage in Ontario, not much gets done from November until March/April anyway.:(

I am a mechanic by trade and spend 50-60 hrs per week in shop fabing, welding, troubleshooting, re-building engines, hydrulic systems, pumps, clutch jobs, diffs, yatta yatta. After work back out in garage to build motorcycles work on hotrods. Last car was subbed out to my friend coldwar because he wanted my 66 442. All I had to do is simply weld brackets on frame and paint. Sure was nice being able to bankroll a build for once. You guys that say " you didn't build it it aint yours ....... Kiss My Ass ! ! !

depends... if you count work, the Dilbert box wins... at home, the pathetic post count speaks for itself... I get lots of info and inspiration here, but try and apply it in the shop whenever I can... radiant heat, a hoist, kids in university and approaching 50 with an understanding spouse helps... it's not an easy balance, and I admire some of the work that the young guys here put out while tryin' to balance everything else, particularly in today's shitty economy... just do what you can when you can... an old(er) guy once told me, "even if you do just one thing a day, or spend half an hour a day in the shop, you'll get it done"...

  21. I hate saying it but, most of my time is spent on this lousy thing. It's my one way of being in contact with the outside world until and if things get better. Garage days are long gone.

When in the USA, I work more in the garage then on the computer. I check my threads out on the HAMB and my email. When I'm in the Far East, I spend a lot of time on the computer in email and the HAMB for the entertainment..

You know i spend day and almost all night on here sometimes. With my health its hard to work in the garage, but when i have a good day i'll go out and work on the car. When i was young i would have been out in the garage working on my cars all the time. I'm thankfull for this place, and the friends ive made, ive had a lot of enjoyment. So i guess i'm a computer hot rodder, but my hearts still a real hot rodder.

When I'm outta parts and outta money the keyboard is where I'm at looking for more parts. But when parts are here, its the garage.

Well, Sam, I can honestly answer 'yes' to both because of the way your poll is worded.

I am a computer hot rodder to a large degree. I hunt eBay for things I don't really need and am on here more than I should be.

But the second option is "I like working in my garage and building stuff" - which is true. I do like it, I just don't seem to have the energy for it many days...

Every once in a while, I go back and re-read your TECH: Building a Hot Rod with your Mind post and make/find the energy to go out there. This weekend, I managed to get the better part of 4 days in the garage (took Mon off to have a 4-day weekend).

    FWIW, I didn't vote!

When you got it did you treat it like a trip to the mattress store and lay down on your back to see how it feels? I would.
