Here is one Lucky Burton made for me using a commemorative 1933 Ford coin and a bakelite knob.

 

I'd be proud of that too, Chris

 

I've always wanted one of those with the thermometer in it. How cool are they?! The only problem is that I tend to rest my hand on the shift knob so I guess it would be at 98.6 most of the time.

 

How about a funky monkey paw?

the two on the right are polished stones with a threaded insert epoxied in the bottom.

I like this one because my youngest daughter gave it to me for Fathers day.

Paul, it looks like you've been polishing your knob again.

 

A friend of mine knows a guy that either works at a place that makes these or sells them to hospitals.
They are stainless steel replacement hip socket balls.
Makes a cool shift handle/knob.

Myself, I'm kinda from the school of thought that says "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

 

Here's one I bought at an old mom and pop auto parts store (remember those?) about 40 years ago. The Ford logo is down about 3/8" from the top under clear acrylic.

 

I miss seeing more of your work, Mr. Norwell.

 

I have a buncha knobs but I think my favorite is a green and white gl*** swirly job.

 

That one with the scotty dog just slays me...

 

I've got to get out more. I've only got the ****py black plastic ball with the engraved shift pattern that came with the factory shifter. Gene

Technically not an aftermarket special. I think the art deco 1938 knob with the V8 emblem in it is one of the prettiest designs I've ever seen.

 

Here are a couple that I have, some I have made, and the old 1920s lathe they are made on!

Still have To set the coin and clean it up a bit more, but this is the one I'm working on now. Pretty happy with it. Found a bunch of "daka-ware made in Chicago" round shift knobs to use a base.

 

I wanna see some Fordite , Detroit Agate? Anyone
