I've always wanted one of those with the thermometer in it. How cool are they?! The only problem is that I tend to rest my hand on the shift knob so I guess it would be at 98.6 most of the time.:D:eek:

I like this one because my youngest daughter gave it to me for Fathers day.

Paul, it looks like you've been polishing your knob again.

A friend of mine knows a guy that either works at a place that makes these or sells them to hospitals.
They are stainless steel replacement hip socket balls.
    Makes a cool shift handle/knob.

Myself, I'm kinda from the school of thought that says "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

Here's one I bought at an old mom and pop auto parts store (remember those?) about 40 years ago. The Ford logo is down about 3/8" from the top under clear acrylic. Ford shift knob.jpg

I've got to get out more. I've only got the ****py black plastic ball with the engraved shift pattern that came with the factory shifter. Gene

Technically not an aftermarket special. I think the art deco 1938 knob with the V8 emblem in it is one of the prettiest designs I've ever seen.

Still have To set the coin and clean it up a bit more, but this is the one I'm working on now. Pretty happy with it. Found a bunch of "daka-ware made in Chicago" round shift knobs to use a base.
