...cool, I'm rarely on instagram, so I wouldn't have found those. Can someone post some more pics!! (Fordite,Bakelite,Hobo nickels,Hamb Coin, & Traditional)... I like everything about this thread so far.

The only "custom" shift knob I ever had was a cheap chromed piston that was sold in the novelty section of the parts store back in the late 50's early 60's. It rattled around my parents house till they p***ed and now it rattles around mine. Can't take a picture of it cause it is there and I am here.
Kinda surprised no one showed one of them. There were a lot of them.

Pretty much, except mine is much cheaper looking. But, what the hell, I sure felt good when I put it on that 37 chev 4dr. When I was done with that car it was the only thing worth saving.

I just used an old gl*** doorknob on mine. Antique shops have a **** load of them.

 

just a chrome ball. dad told me it was from a harley.

Back in 1959,The first shift nob I had on my 28 bobtail hotrod {3 on the floor by Hurst Indy to a 57 Ford ****** on a Y-block Thunderbird V8} was a Regal Beer{ it was a local beer here in Miami Florida,but a good buddy in 1960 gave me a very cool an tall Schlitz that I still love an have today on my old hotrod. To bad I lost track of my smaller Regal Beer one many years back,not becuz I liked it any better at all,but turns out its going now for very high $$$ and could of used that $ for hotrod piggy bank of fun.

The period knobs have come out.
If you were lucky enough to get a beer tap handle you were the cat's ***.

 

Beer tap handles are fun...but tee's hold up better for flatshifting

When it's a 4 on the tree, it counts in my book.
Heard about them for years but never have seen one.

 

What was the 4 Speed on the Tree off of?
European?, Mercedes?

 

Based on his avatar, I'm guessing Ford Econoline.
IIRC, in the mid 60's, Chevy also offered 4 on the tree in vans, not positive though.

 

Wow..... I have heard of them, but never actually saw one with my own eyes.

Yup, it is a 1964 Econoline Heavy Duty, with a four speed. Worked pretty good, too!!
