Look online with Zappos. I wear composite toes, quit wearing steel toes many years ago. If boots aren’t your thing, Reebok has some very comfortable “shoe “ with composite toes, I’m sure others. Zappos has free shipping and free return shipping if not happy with them.
They carry many different brands, if you find what you want but not the correct size, let them know and they’ll contact you when that size is available.

I'm almost always in flip flops or bare feet if it's warm. I do have some red wing pull ons that are great, but I don't throw um on every time I do work. If I have anything heavy in the air I stay tf out from under it no matter what. Almost had a pontoon boat dropped on me once. I haven't been under anything heavy since that day. Until it's properly cribbed or supported, I don't get under a damn thing...

I got to 73 because most of the time I have been lucky. Now I wear more safety equipment since I believe "luck" was due to fast reflexes. I am not as fast as I once was. More like half-fast.

I think of it this way. We are all allocated the same quota of luck when we enter the world. Use it wisely. Supplement it with good decisions, like using the correct safety equipment. Save it up for those times when shit just happens. When it runs out, that will be a bad, bad day......

upload_2022-3-12_5-55-16.jpeg Old time black tennies and Levis attire turned into shorts and sandals...

    Hello,

Back when we had a three car garage and we were actively in the garage for work of any kind, I wore long pants and these athletic shoes. They are not steel toe, but it was to protect my feet from nicks and bangs against the large rolling tools, saws, drill presses and accidently dropping stuff. They got a good workout and I had no injuries to my feet. (My backup pair of shoes were a steel toe Doc Marten's pair that was only worn once since purchased new. It was the style and comfort changes...)
upload_2022-3-12_4-22-20.png Not steel toe, like the Doc Martens, but comfortable and flexible, while doing all sorts of car work, home projects and whatever, in the garage.

Many years later, those shoes took their place in the shoe shelf and the custom sandals took over the daily wear. Recently, I found those shoes and decided to wear them while I did some necessary yard work on an uneven ground, buried stumps and had to use my reciprocating saw. So, high top tennies versus steel toe Doc Martens...was the choice with my work shorts.

After working in our garage for the umpteenth time during the pandemic lock down, I was getting tired of having to do damage control to my toes. Wearing the standard attire for the past 50 years, it was/is hard to breakaway from comfort and ease of having some sole protection. We are all getting old and staying upright with ease, is difficult on the old bones without too much strain, let alone injuries.

So, the latest attempt to not get my toes cut off or running into some unknown hole or stump with sandals, I put on some historic solid high top leather basketball shoes that have been around for ages. They used to be the daily attire, but in our So Cal weather, got hot easily. They never got worn with shorts in a combination.

These days of the pandemic, old age mistakes and wanting to still be mobile without limping around was the key to using these old high top shoes for some type of protection while doing some drastic yard work cutting down a couple of small trees that bit the dust. Nature has its own ways to deal with the life and times of plants/trees. A row grows well for many years of maintenance and all of a sudden, a couple of them start the downward spiral that has its final run.

So, not wanting to have any errors while doing the removal and maintenance, I put on these leather high tops for some errant protection to these old feet. Chain saws, uneven So Cal hard soil and tree roots just are an accident waiting to happen, if not cautious.

old style basketball tennies for protection...

No, I did not go out in the general public with high tops and shorts. (It was early morning and no one was outside) I am glad my wife decided not to take a photo or two of me wearing those old high top tennies and shorts during the garage/yard clean up. Although my feet were better protected than just wearing sandals, there is a limit to that style and look… (and no neighbors were on their daily dog walking adventures, too.) ... YRMV

Have to wear boots for work so I pretty much live in them, once broken in they are more comfortable than anything else I own. Wore sneakers to a swap one time and came home sore!!!! I usually have a nice clean pair for “going out”.

I always wear workboots with steel toes, they are by far the most comfortable and supportive footwear I own. The safety aspect is just a bonus.

  12. I used steel toe boots at work, during winter when it's cold in the garage I wear them, but mostly nowadays I'm looking for the most cushioned sole for my back to be able to last a little longer on the concrete.

Fatigue mats. I am a big fan.

I see somewhat messed up ones outside of restaurants on trash day, occasionally. I pressure wash them, trim them to fit, and put them in front of machines where I will need to stand for long periods of time.

  15. I wear steel toe work boot whenever I am in the garage unless I am doing light work, or beach work (wiring etc) then I might wear my Converse. I have never owned a pair of flip-flops, sandles, or Crocs.

I don't own or wear knee pants because I am over six years old.
