Does anyone know if a dizzy cap from another engine fits the distributor on a Dodge 230 flathead? I'm having trouble getting bits for my dizzy such as a cap and the wanky screw on lead ends. It would be nice to just chuck a normal type of cap on so I can use some modern leads.
Hey Louie, I got a cap and all the other bits for my 230 dissy from Andy Bernbaum, www.oldmoparts.com
I just checked out that site. Man they got everything. Was it easy to get the parts to NZ? BTW, I watched the movie the other night, The Worlds Fastest Indian. It is a sensational movie. Do they have a memorial to Burt Munro in In-ver-car-gill? There is a source for mopar stuff in Melbourne, www.dodgeparts.com.au He has a lot of stuff there. I got plugs & points off him (soon to arrive) pretty cheap.
Nah, push in leads. The wife....er.....car is coming along. Just done a rebuild on the engine and got it back in the car. Still a few things to hook up, but I'm sidelined with recovery from a heart attack, so it's slow going for a few weeks. She'll be up and running before Christmas though.
No problem at all with parts from Andy, also Vintage Power Wagons. I'll check out your link too, cheers.
That Aussie site is quite expensive by comparison. Ex: he wants $35AU for a valve (NZ$40)plus shipping, whereas Andy is US$9 which with shipping to NZ is about NZ$22!
I'll email Andy & get a price for dizzy cap. My plugs & points have not arrived yet coz he put the wrong post code on the package. Simple mistake.
