Anybody out there in hot rod land building a Dodge Matador? I found one in a salvage yard the other day and its still got quite a few parts, including the motor. Its a bench seat model and not the swivel buckets that some had.
That car is cool, but the car is to new for this place. WAIT A MINUTE! WHAT THE HELL IS A DODGE MATADOR?
They are super popular in Europe, for some reason. Very cool cars. If the steering wheel was nice, I'd buy it. Trim off of the car should be easy to resell. The tail lights are a popular swap into some 50's cars. I'd like to see pics of it if you have any.
that's a really cool looking car, too bad its so stripped down, i bet finding parts for that could be a bitch. good luck with it. is that the model with cool square steering wheel?
That's a really rare car and getting parts for it would probably be like pulling teeth. I would still grab it.
Being a 2 door hardtop, that's a very desirable car, and it doesn't look particularly rotten either, especially for a ForwardLook car. I would guess you could sell that car as-is for a couple grand, even with the pieces that are missing.
grab those little chrome things in front of the rear wheelwells... I've seen those go for crazy money on ebay... the ones I saw were 61's, but I've seen lots of 1960 era mopar parts go for $$$$. I paid 50 bucks for an NOS tail light lens for my 61. that was after losing out on 3 auctions with my 40.00 bids.
Snag that one up! Last time I'd seen one, was in Brunssum, Netherlands in 1991. It was white with a red top and interior - a beautiful car! That would make an absolutely bitchin' kustom! A lot of '60 Chrysler and DeSoto parts will swap with the Dodge, BTW. AMC used the Matador name from 1971 through 1978.
Those are rare and super bitchin. They would make a killer custom without much change to the body. Look at those fins! Early 60's mopars were about as custom as you could get from the factory!
Man... way up on my want list. I've been looking for a nice 2 dr hardtop Matador forever! Matadors were 1 year only, 1960. My guess they didn't sell well, you either ponied up for the fancier Polara or bought the cheaper Phoenix (or Plymouth if you wanted full size) so they dropped it. My Dad bought one new in the fall of 59, it was our family car till 68. It had the 361 in it, I remember it required "ethal" gas so it must of had high for the time CR. Pretty fast car in it day, my brother found out on some new freeway constuction it could peg the 120mph speedo. Found out very shortly after the brakes did not want to stop a 120 mph land barge, almost ran out of freeway before he got it stopped! Dad also replaced the rear axle once, not sure why but maybe he thought it was bent, the right rear tire was always wearing out prematurly.
This is one of my favorite cars of All-Time ! Take a look at what it could become ! (This is the "Polara" version...same car different trim) Jonnie King www.legends.thewwbc.net
Car has no papers so the yard will not sell it complete. I ask them about selling it at least 3 times a year.
What is the status of the 56 F100 in the back ground ? Id like to find some good doors and the shell to an orginal radio.
yeah, those are freaking bad ass. pretty sure wildcat auto wrecking outside of portland has one or two.
