If you have the later crank and the early torque converter you’ll have to use an adapter to go over the nose of the converter. I have several laying around.

Yeah, been into Mopars over 40 years. Unfortunately the younger crowd in the Mopar community are fixated on the $$$ aspect of the hobby. Just go on some of the Mopar forum.Lots of threads on “What’s my car worth”. Mentality extends toward the higher end Mopars but is now bleeding down to the A body and C body owners. The auctions have a lot to do with this mentality.

    dart, THAT setup makes sense!
Hector, I hope you are saying I am in the second helpful group. I try...
I have a few interesting things, but nothing real valuable. It's taken years of waiting for liquid cash and a decent deal on the stuff I have. A BB 727 shorty that will work in an A100. The super six and auto sitting in the garage. A few 400 blocks that would make nice stroker builds. An older drag 451 that needs refreshing (questionable aluminum rods). The 40 coupe that needs to be finished. A blasted and primed A100 shell, waiting on body/paint. If I croaked tomorrow and they held an auction to clear things out, it wouldn't add up to a nice stock Model A unless you found a great deal. Sure isn't worth gold but won't sell for s**** either!

Here is what I came up with for the kickdown. Not sure why the liner pulled out of the sheath (it was like that when I got it) but it isn’t in the way. This is Speedway’s Lokar knockoff - just looped the other end around the transmission crossmember so it comes in from behind & hooked it to the kickdown right where the rod would have attached. I had to put a return spring on the kick down lever on the transmission to ensure it would return to the neutral position.

This gives the throttle linkage lots of leverage over the kickdown and works great without the big ugly L bracket standing over the carb for the cable like I normally see. I still don’t like cables but it was the only way I could think of to solve this problem.

And yes- I went with a Delco rebuilt gear reduction starter. It had a Dakota mini starter on it before that never had any problems but I always wanted the gear reduction sound. Not that I ever get to hear it because it starts on the first revolution every time!

Had a guy run an early torque converter on a later model slant. The motor had a vibration that he couldn’t track down. Ended up putting the slip ring on the converter hub and bolting it back up. No more vibration

Could have about anything available these days. I did not make a habit of installing a slant 6 in much of anything, usually I was replacing slant 6s with V8s. This one was my one brother in law's first car, and I was likely still in high school or just out of high school. I don't remember for sure what we ended up doing, but I suspect we probably cobbled the later model trans in and hacked up the shift linkage to work. My BIL hated that car, and he well killed it within 3 months. It was the first of probably 100 Mopars (honestly) he killed in his early years, 3 months would have been a long term driving time for a single car those first 4-5 years. Fortunately, he has settled down a lot since then. He still owns only Mopar cars & trucks.
