Hi Enloe - it is Saturday but I'm on garage lock-down.

No time to waste here buddy! Found a bitching cover on eBay listed under boat parts . $300 and I was the only bidder. This solves the engine mounting issues big time!



So its was time to try the oil pump out. Crank crank crank - ta hell shot 1 quart of oil out the timing cover opening in no time So it turns out if you are running a Milodon gear drive, you better plug the galleys. The normal cam plate covers these.



Finally fixed. Time for dress rehearsal

Missed you at Paradise today. We had a good time. there was a twin turbo Ford sedan that got into the wall at the end of the track and messed it up. It didn't hurt it as bad as it could have.

 

Buddy of mine got it on his phone...

That car was built and is owned by a good buddy of mine. The worst part is he had made the front spindles himself. He made them once, he can do it again. That is one trick Hot Rod.

 

That thing was hauling the mail for sure.

Got decent progress this weekend. Saturday was spent on the pedal shafts and bell housing mods. Needed that to be done before mounting the engine. The bell housing was off by .028" which means I needed a .014" offset dowel. Sent out a TXT for parts and Tudor arrived with the correct dowels! Never had a bell housing lines up this close! It is 1/2 the max reading which would be .0025"





Made the clutch and brake pedal shafts ....



Cut the bell housing to convert from hydraulic to manual and tapped it for a pivot ball thingy.



The lower sheild for the bellhousing made an excellent motor mount - just needs some trimming.





Thank God for hippies - they will come and help you on a Sunday I promised to go to church after the build is done

 

Are the front tires Moroso? What size are they?

Paradise was a good time as usual. Hate you had to miss it but glad to see ya got a lot done. The hemi is totally Bitchin with that Thompson cover and the injection!!!

Man that shifter looks killer on that Hightower. Is it an inline or an H pattern?

 

Hey JT its an H pattern. The shift lever is going to need fabricated. I wanted the shifter box farther back but then we can't slide the trans out without removing the box. Johnny Hightower said the rods are set up - don't touch any of that stuff . So we put the box about flush to the tail.

 

Great seeing something different being built. I love the old Hemi for sure can't wait to see it running. We had a blast at Paradise Saturday would have been great to see it there testing but i know how it is working on them I jsut did make it there and still not that good but was still fun making people smile and enjoy seeing teh old car.

Voh - here is a simple article on bellhousing runout.

Basically if you get a block line honed, the crank is probably up higher in the block, so now the belhousing is centering on a lower spot. They make offset dowels to correct it. I have heard that is can cause missed shifts, but some folks never even check it. My total offset from center was .028 when using straight dowels. Another big deal for a hemi - there is an adapter behind the block, so all the stuff adds up. Its best to check it I think.
