  4. You know Salty that's true - the tree at this place was different somehow. I thought you could watch for the stage bulbs and count 1-2-3 in your head and leave. But I watched the tree a bunch in the staging lanes and it would have been a red light pretty often. I just got out hard I guess. Even left on my boss one time :D . The only bad run was the Tasmanian Devil in the 1st eliminations - I cut .855  he was 1 car ahead - I ran him down by a fender. :)

Looks like you have the tire wadding under control, looks good.
Some trees are 4 tenths some are 5tenths. its always best to know at each track.

  7. The only thing I know about it is from the VP web site :

This year I'm running C16 because my engine is about 15.5:1 . Last year I was running C12 on 11:1 engine. Looks like they have a new one called X16 that I'll try next.

Oh baby, was that some cool b&w shots.
    Thank you.

  9. Quain told Sonny it was a random tree. Sonny spanked me at Darlington, so I tried it his way and left before the tree activated! Someone who ran Zak had a .001!

  11. You think that was the bomb - check this - it shows both passes - when the oil was dumped and the poor guy who slipped on it. Lots to be learned here - if you think you tossed a rod - don't leave the track.

  12. Here's Friday night test N tune with the O2 sensor. That left lane was slippery Friday night. This has a 40 pill in the metering block. Later I went to a 35 pill then a 22 pill. Its probably using all the gas it can get and needs a bigger pump. You can see its lean at 5500 then its getting richer up to 8000.

Nice video - WOW - look at the crowd. Obviously you put on great show. Burnouts across the line - sometimes 2. And most of the cars burnout straight ( most times ). Look great.

Tony Glad to see you running good.....Yeah the stands where packed again. Maybe in 2017 the tracks can give SEG their own event. And they don't have to share the stage with junior dragsters etc. late nights and a few hour drive home make it tough for us spectators especially the church goers Sunday am.

How was the car when you got it home? Are there any repairs that need to be done?

  20. Yeah he tossed a rod right after the launch it puffs. Must not have realized it was cracked open. I can see myself doing the same thing, so I'm gonna try to pull over and look if it happens.

    Try it again DOM

Nothing broken that I can see. Nick Smithberg talked to Gene Adams about the way it running and Gene said my stacks are too long ;) so Nick is sending me some 6" tubes to try at the next race.

  21. Aha! That's the first explanation I've seen on the bypassing that makes sense. Right now there is only an IDLE and one HIGH SPEED bypass. I need to get the bigger pump but with 3 races left, not sure I want to mess with it yet.

That was some good driving. Hope it wasn't to bad. We had a old drag racer, BBC camaro, 4 spd, alot of rpm's, throw a rod at Bluegrass 1 night, drove up the return road and on the trailer. Took 2 hours to clean up the mess.

T-Dog, I could use some help locating a headlight trim ring. Outside is 7 7/8 inside 7 1/8 and about 3/4" deep. One screw hole in the bottom. Looking for one that might match the one in the pics.

  24. Let me look. There is a good swap meet on Saturday - might run over there. Is that for a Henry J ?

Just phoned a friend who has a salvage yard specializing in older cars, and has 2 H-Js in the yard. Both are so rusted out that they literally shake like a lump of Jello when you push on them.
He said he'd take a look tomorrow at them, but he's 98% sure the headlight trim rings are gone. He also suggested taking a look at the trim rings on mid 70s Jeeps suc as CJ5/7, etc.

Speaking of head light bezels, if anyone has 2 for a 40 chevy coupe, or any side chrome, pm me and I could pick them up at Clay City when you all come there. Looking forward to the Clay City meet!
