  1. I'm contacting someone right now about how to go about this with no middle man. Will let you know soon.

FYI, Crane will modify your cam core to a short nose. They now offer that service thanks to me. I would only recommend that if you plan to do a regrind on your cam or just need to modify the nose. You really don't save much vs using a new cam core.

The MDA / Meltdown fund the event through profits from the souvenir tent. I am not aware of any other source of funding for them. Keep in mind they have no payout. No formal elimination style racing = no winners, no losers = No payout. It's also a 1 time per year event and not a travelling series.

If there is a online funding - post it - I would contribute

  4. I talked to Stephen Smith at the track Sat. He's in charge of Social Marketing and Brand Communications for the SEG. Said that's doable and appreciated. Contact him through the SEG Facebook page or at Stephen@SoutheastGassers.com. Great guy and NO MIDDLE MAN.

  5. For once, being too close to the information is a bad thing - my wife fretted about the floooding all week, didn't want to load up, but we did, drove 5 hours of the 6 to get to the track and then (because I was driving) she finds a pic with water on the track somewhere and had us turn around and drive 5 hours home.

Everyone that went had an epic time :(

  9. I hear ya Dave - wish I could forget about it - all I needed was one "come on we need you - or come drink beer in the pits" just really bummed out at my lack of follow through. Lesson learned.

Hey now, I gave you a call! If i had known you made it to an hour away i wouldve shamed you into finishing the trip! I'm pretty sure i speak for everyone there when i say we had a blast! I loved the getting to drive them back down the track instead of the return road, and we still managed to get the show finished in about 5 hours

I am just bummed out too!
I have to remember I do this for fun so like I said...see ya'll at Greer!

  12. Gabriel I should have called you at the 5 hour mark - I know you would have said 'grab her by the p***y and get down here :D' Doug saw us driving back on the other side of the I-20 and called me but he hadn't been to the track yet either so he wasn't sure it would be running or not.

  13. Tony hated that we missed you but I get the concern. I was even on the fence of coming up to watch. That water was just barely touching the track all day but the track crew kept it back and safe. It was some great racing. Lot's of close races which are fun. Plus...you missed CircusBear!!

  14. I agree with Gabriel, one of the best times had all season. Also had to be probably some of the nicest track personnel I've ever dealt with. Anxious to go back.

I was glad I went. Track personnel worked hard all day. Kept everyone safe. Coming back up the track after each run was a home run. I didn't hear anyone that didn't like that. When I saw what 4 cars were in the semis of C/G I was smiling. Not one of those 4 had ever won or runner-up before. I told the wife that no matter what there was gonna be a new winner and runner up at this event. The fact that just a week prior that whole area was a disaster zone and that most people were busy trying to put their lives back together, seeing that many local spectators come out to watch amazed me. The first Saturday after a hurricane I would think just about everyone's priority would be to clean up the mess but somehow there was a lot of people who thought gasser racing was more appealing...LOL. Imagine that! For the circumstances, I thought it went as well as possible.

Ya know what? I didn't miss looking at a time slip all day. It was refreshing not to know what my reaction time and ET was compared to someone in the other lane..LOL.

  17. Since there were no clocks, I'm glad I ran you. You are my time clock. I saw the video and I'm getting closer to you. Just the way it looked, I'd say you ran about a 5.86 and I was close at a 6.12 . . . . Right? I would have thought a Barracuda would have done better in the water though. Thought I'd say that before someone else did.

I agree also was great seeing the other cars getting to run more. after all the hard work they have done. I will say it also was a great time and fun not worrying about a time slip or what you run. The crowd was really good and enjoyed the show we had.

  19. Wish I'd thought of that. We had carburetor issues in round 2 of qualifying. Changed the whole top end of the motor before finals began. Carbs, intake, linkage and fuel lines. How did we do it so quick you ask? Rusty quit getting his ready and came to help--just so I'd be able to run him (or anyone else) in round one! That's what kind of people we have in the Southeast Gassers!

And them BRB blocks you don't have to deal with the cooling system.

  22. You guys aren't making me feel any better for missing out :( So to lick my wounds, I'm flying to Bakersfield for the Hot Rod thingy this weekend with Nick Smithberg and Gene Adams. Planning to hang with Porter and The Night Stalker :) should feel right as rain come Friday.

Awww.. I wasn't much help. You had it pretty well done by the time I got there. I was probably more in the way than actual help.. Like I said, I wasn't going up to run first round until you were ready.
