I'm sure Tony will report in here soon on his test and tune work with the very able and expert Quain Stott doing the tuning and Tony the testing.
But I will say that Tony had some great success in getting Q&D in much better form and spectacular nose in the air performance.

  2. Yeah the 2nd gear wheelies were high  Quain made some suspension adjustments and its controllable - somewhat anyway. Really appreciated the schooling from a pro. He sorted out Bobby's injection also. Can't find my I phone cable so I can upload. We used to be able to put Instagram stuff on here too, but that seems to be gone now.

    Waaaay cool!
If the newest one is not available, any one of the previous ones would please me equally.
The possibility of that has me already planning a spot on my shop wall.
PM me what I need to do to make it happen Tony.

I would think that all the subscribers to this thread would get a autographed copy of the one flier that had your car on it.

Thanks Mark! Next year Quick N Dirty SHIRTS! ;)

Let me see what is on hand Saturday Doug - you don't know that guy called Runaway that has a tractor sales place in Orygon by chance? He has some 392's laying about. I talked to him at Bakersfield his price was getting me and Nick Smithberg to think more about the new Bear Motors block .....

  12. I've seen a couple of the Bear Motors Ford FE blocks, and they look pretty good. Jon Kaase had one in his shop when I was there last year, before I came by your place for a visit. He was fairly impressed for the money too.

When you get a chance, I'd like to hear a bit more about "Bear Motors" blocks. Are they iron or aluminum? If AL, cyl sleeve? Larger bore size capability? Price?
Not that I would ever need one as I'm too damn old for hat game, just inquisitive:rolleyes:

  17. Nick is going to call the guy soon. The blocks are iron and will have the 4 bolt steel caps already on it. That's a big expense in converting a 1958 block over. So if they are $4K, they are the same price as me converting and older block after parts and labor - then the new block has a thicker deck and can be bored out more - not 4.5" but probably more than the stocker could stand. The Aluminum block effort was Gene Adams I think. Not sure where that project is.

Whatever happened to the Donovan blocks?

  20. Unless this happened this past week - he actually went in for a valve replacement and is doing ok. That's why he wasn't at Bakersfield, bummer for me and Nick, we really wanted to meet him :(

Still making them but I think that stuff is all dry blocks - us guys using gas need water.

I've been following this thread since the beginning, and I'm too far north to be able to watch you run. If I could at least buy a t-shirt I'd almost feel like I "was there". :)

  24. Well bummer man .....

Gotta decide on paint before a T-shirt design. Really 50/50 on painting it. Its a little on the rat rod side to me so it would be cool to paint it but not slick - keep it flat. Or hell just go wild and do full length racing stripes. That trunk is a big long gray space ....

I'm in the crowd of "looks cool as it is" folks. Besides, paint adds weight!!

Here is a little inspiration Tony.
Shiny paint wasn't needed on the Filthy Forty car.

It's already got paint on it. Save your money for parts. :)
