The roadster I bought has a Vintiques deck-lid latch. It's also a physics anomaly. When latched, I can drive along and hear the deck-lid open and slam on certain bumps, it has also been observed by a friend behind me. When I stop and check the deck-lid, it's latched. The deck-lid wouldn't lock, so I fixed that. The locked deck-lid still somehow comes unlatched, but won't re-latch itself after the initial unlatching like it does when it's unlocked. So, it actually bounces around more than an unlocked deck-lid. Searches haven't turned up much. So the question is, does someone already make a latch that doesn't suck, or is this a challenge that I need to rise to?
The way you put it made me wonder if a latch which works with actual vacuum (though perhaps not manifold vacuum) might not be an improvement
I've had the same problem and have did some filing on the hook which has helped somewhat. I never did get the latch on my departed 5 window to hold.
Do you have the rubber bumpers in place on the corners. Helps keep it tight. I’ve had 2 32s and no issues keeping the lid shut. First one had a real latch and it was by far the easiest to adjust
I had to make my own latch after buying a Vintiques latch which wasn't even close. I added adjustable bumpers at the bottom and have repo rubber bumpers at the top. Fits good and tight.
I do have the bumpers. I tightened up the latch a bit, with no change. Do you have any photos of the latch you made?
